i would just like to thank everyone for their help :-thumb1 , i think i am about there, ive not got all sats stored only 30w 7w 1w 26.0e atm, and its hitting the arc fine, i will try 42e tomorrow as ive not set limits yet and i locked the motor up yesterday and had to take it all to bits, it was like krypton factor putting it back together lol, last time i checked i was getting some showtime channels on 7w but ive not had a good look at 26.e,

i did not grease anything up just oil from what ive read most of the bearings/bushes are oillite and grease will stop them breathing/wrong oil will do more harm than good, ive got some proper oil for the job from halfords, at some point i will strip the mount and leave it to soak for a few hours in this oil,

thanks again lads :-clap

It's been almost as interesting to read about your exploits as it must have been for you actually getting the job done.

hi, ive got one small issue, my dish is pointing @ 42E (please view picture) i can see if i use the other hole i can hit more of the ark,

would this be the way of doing it please ?, send dish to1W>diconnect the arm>move motor to line up with the second hole>store 1W @ new position>re-tweak dish ?.

edit

looking closer @ it i would hit less of the ark, but i want to go further E than W so looking at it i need to reposition the whole motor more E that would give me more west.

If you put the washers between the bar and the jack arm, you will have more clearance between the two - so they won't clash.

The other hole is used for 12" jacks and it will actually give you a smaller arc.

What size is your jack? If it's 12", use the other hole. I normally just reposition the whole jack on its swivel point in the direction of the arrow in the screenshot. On your Vbox, you can normally recalculate positions after adjusting the jack-arm but it's not 100% and will require further tweaking.

OK for what? I find my 18" is enough for 45E-45W. What's the range that you have visible?

Wow, that's a hell of a range! I am not sure if 18" is enough for that... or whether the dish will hit the mounting before the jack runs out of puff.

I'll let someone else respond to this as I don't know...

Forget anything further west than 63° and exactly how flat is your east horizon taking into account your fence, next doors, their neighbours and any hills within a mile or two?

If the other hole is closer to the axis it will move the dish further.

The problem is starting the setup from the centre satellite. Now you have it tracking the arc here is how to set it up. Drive the actuator all the way closed until it hits the hardware limit. Now click it out 10 counts. That allows 5 counts for software limit and 5 for first satellite. Now with the actuator set like that loosen the clamp around the actuator and adjust the dish until it is on the furthest east satellite you want to receive.
