I did read @nelson_b had a go at some point i cant recall what he got ? hope nelson will let us know and maybe his 3mtr can see this position ?:)QUOTE]

Hi martin -
I,m not able to see further than 40 East with the - aged Prodelin 3 m - due to its more sheltered and partially hidden location :)-- i would love to point it at 68.5 - but re locating it to a place where that sat can be seen is just too much work for me to even consider right now.:( --and the wind loading on it was scary enough a few nights ago even in its sheltered place

The thread logging my limited success with the Alcoa 1.8 PF is here
68.5 East C band result

Lol --- that.s pretty much what i did at the time with the 1.8 Alcoa (see pics)

i,v considered something similar for the Prodelin - but it would need to be "MUCH " more heavy duty ---- cant face such a project at the moment to be honest . havn,t ruled it out entirely though:D

The only difference between mesh and solid dish is that mesh works good only in C-band but solid dish works good in both, C an Ku.

So the 85cm mesh dish I have lying around somewhere for later use at Ku band maybe, wouldn't be better than a triax 64 dish?
Oops, that is a disappointment; I didn't know that. :( And for c-band it is also really small? :(
Some plans of mine are falling to pieces...

Better give it to the missus, then, as she mentionned she'd like to grow plants on it... :-bighappy

Don't mix up mesh and perforated dishes. Although we tend to call the small dishes with holes in them "mesh" it's not strictly the same thing as a perforated dish (sold metal with holes in it). A decent perforated dish will work well in KU band. Large mesh dishes for C band have bigger gaps in them which is not good for the higher frequencies of KU band.

Ah, thank you! Mine is a perforated dish, indeed! No need to give up plans.

Glad I didn't say anything to the missus yet... ;)

Martin,
I know "Feedsat_DXer" can get a lock on these with a 3.1m dish in the South of France but I don't know if anyone in the UK has managed to achieve this with a 3m dish.

Just a little update : I am not in the south of France (not in the north either ...) but as you can see, here is a test I made for fun during this summer with an old T55, If I was in the south I had got a flat scan :)

@Journey
It's a small antenna
Main reflector : 66.8 cm X 53.2 cm
Sub reflector : 25.3 cm x 49.7 cm

It is very nice and extremely neat, would fancy something like that for say 13, 19, 23

13,19,28 and 5W , it was a test of various old LNB, just for fun, sometimes Dxers have crazy ideas

but it was not so bad and the MER is good enough (of course probably not enough during heavy rain but who care when it's a test only ).
OK, sorry for @martin-f for this off topic.

Would be ideal for my uses tbh, something like that and a motorised 1.2m CM and i would be good to go !
