Hi all, the system you are refering to is a microwave antenna that will feed the signal in the 1.5Ghz range into an analog sat reciever. This is being used all over spain and in large parts of Africa. Its basically a directional link to a sending antenna that allows to send a "package" off up to 20channels. You will need the Antenna (about 80-140euros,depending on the distance you need,up to about 60km) a analog reciever 950-1750 Input, you see, there is no LNB conversion needed and of course the know how to install it vertical or horizontal, I mean the antenna, not the settings on the box, they do not matter. I must say however, 600euros seems quite a lot, except if you also get some sky movies or sport. The system CAN be incrypted, but normally is not. If it is, you have to find out what they use, normally the old favorites D2Mac or Luxcrypt, I doubt they got a videocrypt system.
Good luck and
sunny greatings

Does anyone have any more info how this can be done
i want to set this up for some friends and family

Still can't understand how its legal, don't you need permission/licence from local government to transmit, and does S*y allow this ? I only ask bcause this would be good in Cyprus.

Zorba any chance of setting this up in Cyprus?

I dont think anybody(technicians) could be bothered really.Everybody has got a dish of some sort now,and to try and win them over to a limited package offer would be difficult. Also the equipment and encryption required is old analogue(if you dont scramble it then someone will find a way of getting similar receivers, like they did with bfbs receivers until bfbs re scrambled and the imported receivers became useless). You probably do need a licence to transmit, but as the frequency is not in the normal uhf range(I think),it would not interfere with local frequencies so would not attract attention. But word would get around eventually and then an article would appear in the Cyprus Mail......etc.

Hi,

I've been reading this thread and think I've worked out what's going on.

There's a company in Fuerteventura re-broadcasting BBC1/BBC2/ITV/Channel 4 using the Strong STR4155 FTA box and aerials that look like UK terrestrial aerials without a reflector.

In a normal sat tv setup with a dish and set top box, the LNB converts the signal from the 10 to 11 GHz frequency that the satellites use to a frequency in the range 950Mhz to 1750 MHz.

This is done because there is less loss in the cable at the lower frequency. The re-broadcasting company are transmitting directly on this lower range, i.e. 950Mhz to 1750 MHz.

The sat box however does not know that it has no LNB connected so you would still need to set it to the equivalent higher frequency.

To set up your own box, the first thing you would need to do would be turn off the 18 volt feed to the LNB which would be shorted out if you connected it to a terrestrial aerial. This is probably why some of the posts mention a 50 volt blocker; but on the strong 4155, you can turn off the 18 volt LNB supply in the menu.

I have a spec sheet, users manual and service manual for the STR4155 and there's no way they're scrambling the signal, they're just counting on no-one being able to work out how they've done it.

The only thing I don't know at this stage is what to set the FTA receiver to, can anyone help on this?

Regards,

Mr Happy

Here goes this is my first post on the forum, can anybody tell me the exact spec of the antenna used in tenerife also the best FTA box for the job.

My mate has just had this system installed but the box has no manufactures name on it and i can't find any menus showing the PIDs and frequency settings, i had planned to dump the eeprom holding all the settings and clone the box but i can't find out the make and model.:-doh!

have heard that the system is going to use rolling pids and they will change every 20 mins
they send a code to the boxes hidden in there signal
so if you hack 20 mins later its gone
the only 1 that will be able to hack is fuerteventura
this is because a new company have got the contract and they will be using new system.... but they guy using the old system can only manually change the codes so he only changes them twice a year...but the new company have spare transmitters so they transmit a blank signal on the same freq as old system but stronger so creating a blocked signal

hope this helps

hi
what are they charging per month and how many channels
we will have a 4 meter dish up to see if bbc and itc are receivable in southern italy.
if so i will probaly us it on my digital cable service
if they are using digital they have it tramsmitting on fm qpsk like me.
bit rate may be 27.5mbps,28.0 mbps up to 30.0 mbps.
because we are a little below the low end of the satellite band 10.660 ghz,
i had to move the lo freq at 9.750ghz by 90 mhz so lnb was compatible with a standardsat receiver with ci.i if you know what frequency they are transmitting on ,950 mhz to 2.2 ghz then we need to see what type of antenna.
i know a german man in tenna reef who was using sky1,sports on a wireless cable service there years a go.
let me know

I know that in Ireland there are a lot of people who retransmit the UK tv using a very high masts to recieve and re-transmit on UHF. The signal can go miles because they retransmit relay to relay. Not legal of course but the Irish are more chilled out than to worry about this. saying that since the BBC and ITV are now unencrypted on sky there is not so much demand anymore, still its interesting to see the masts over there.

Just returned from Tenerife but I haven’t cracked it yet.

The first thing I did was download my mates channel list file and transferred it to my own box, everything looked good but when I connected it to the aerial it didn’t work, all the channel info was displayed and the signal was locked but no picture.

Also on my mates box you can’t access the installation menu which means the firmware as been changed, I think they have added an algorithm to the firmware to hide the real PID, so for example the channel list file shows the PID to be 1587 but the algorithm converts it to 2698.

I had more luck with the aerial but ended up having to face it towards Guaza from Los Cristianos, as my apartment blocks La gomera .

I also tried facing it towards Arona and got a stronger signal but couldn’t get a lock, is there more than one company using this system or do they use different frequency’s and symbol rates from other transmitters.

Ho yes I tried my technomate 1000D but it can’t find the PIDs.

Anybody know whats happened with Modshack ?

Hello to all I have the software of the decoder of the totally broken system. They alone hide the PID there is an alone system to break it I need each you see that they carry out the change to read the read-only memory of the receiver. I have all the memory of the transmitter of the rubber one LASAT and I can enter the menu If some of you speak Spanish we will share the ideas since I am behind the system since the principle and I know the situation of all their repetidores. If someone has the cojones to be able to leave me his receiver functioned each you see that they change the PID I him I will
duplicate the times that want the same receiver and will function the same as the first one, I have 20 receivers cloned by the rubber tree.

I am a Spaniard but I know the electronics very well and to the business trasmisora, I will try to screw them each you see that since are some presumed that are being put rich to ribs of you, he has many accusations in telecommunications but they buy from the engineers with gifts to ribs of all the English buds.
You think that the Spaniard they are gilipollas but they are not wrong.
Greetings of this Spaniard that can remove them of many urgencies. :-snowman :-bigsanta :-HoHo :-tree :-carrot :-hny :-csmile :-santa3

I've been following this thread with great interest from Turkey, I'm interested in Julio's message - I've been trying to imagine rubber transmissions and so on but got lost! Fortunately he has included the original Spanish. Can anyone attempt an English translation?
