How organised are the Nordic countries that looks ace the snow clearing machine.

I can't wait for the snow here a centimetre of it and all hell breaks loose to laugh at all the numpties that can't cope with it.

I always hope for snow in London so I can watch the chaos on tv. :)

New snow clearing equipment ( maybe ) to prevent winter traffic chaos on E 39 between Kristiansand and Stavanger in southern norway.

The blade on the front of the truck is called Odin and the rotating brush at the rear is called Balder his son, so a family affair.

http://www.overaasen.no/road_equipment/black_without_salt/

Baldr (also Balder, Baldur) is a god of light and purity in Norse mythology, and a son of the god Odin and the goddess Frigg.

Just hope it works:D

A few of those photos are farmers clearing the road for a small payment.

I'm not sure about their footpath snow blower

I think they will be trying to hire some of yours if it gets bad. :-rofl2

Have 3 of these in my arsenal to clear light snow on the tractor track up to the main road, distance 150 meters, have a routine that takes 4 return trips.

For the James May fans, he will be on again next week

Tuesday, 09/12/2014, 22:00 - 22:30 (00:30)
BBC FOUR

James May at the Edge of Space
(news/currant affairs/foppishness)

James May takes a rare and privileged flight 70,000 feet above Earth in a U2 spy plane to a place known in the Air Force as the 'space equivalent zone' or the 'edge of space'.

That area has an effect on our weather though a lot of the details are unknown at the moment.

Bought a new used diesel car 2 months ago, everything is winter checked, coolant, studded tires, low visc. oil etc.
As the winter season is so long here ( 3 - 4 months ) and temperatures dipping to ~25C in feb. invested in a smart battery charger today to replace my old transformer/rectifier version, advantage is you do not have to disconnect the battery when charging as it will not fry the cars electronics.

That battery top up charger is a very good idea.

I have new tyres for this year. I was going to get another set of Quadraxers but I decided to pay a few more pounds and get the Goodyear Vector 4Seasons to see what all the fuss was about. They are good so far, as comfortable as the Quadraxers.

http://www.goodyear.eu/uk_en/tires/passenger/vector-4seasons/

Before you tan my hide, they don't make the Nokian All Weather Plus in my size. I will have to get a new used car in a year or two and it is likely I will be able to try them.

http://www.nokiantyres.com/winter-tyres/nokian-all-weather-/

If I was changing to winter tyres I would get the Nokian wr a3

http://www.nokiantyres.com/winter-tyres/nokian-wr-d3/

But there can be random ice on the road from mid September and it can be very muddy at times in spring and autumn so I use the all year tyres.

I would not believe everything the manufacturer claims.

Currently minus 0.5 on the remote thermometer. Not much warmer indoors so I'll probably switch on the gas fire later, the cooking in a few minutes will take the nip out of the cold in the meantime.

It is cold but not all that cold really when you see people living in the extremes of Siberia and Canada.

Our weather would be tropical to them.

Well it did not fry the electronics in my new/used VW passat estate when the battery was charged overnight whilst battery still connected.

Can now recommend this battery charger to others:)

Fabulous day here. Clear blue sky, tremendous visibility across t'Moors and it's much milder than the last few days.
