Some of us don't take the coming changes too seriously simply because we got
the antidote that will solve any problems. This magic potion to be exact...

There is a luxury version with 11,4 dB gain but I really don't believe in that one,
sounds too good to be true really!

Well even I got a bit panicky today. A few days ago I saw on youtube someone putting a plastic cone round the feedhorn, just sticky slightly proud and getting much better signal quality. Now I thought it was BS, but desperate times and all that I spent two hours trying different sized cones, protruding at different lengths. No joy suprise suprise. Now all I need is some snake oil.

Which translates to almost 120km of beam movement over the earth. Which should be near enough those 0.15 degrees. If someone wants to do the maths, pls go ahead :)
You can't put a numeric value on it because it is different at different places around the beam. Here's what 0.15º looks like in equirectangular projection.

Try rubbing mustard on the front of the LNB

@timo_w2s: yes I think so too. The spot beam is a Freesat-only operation. And I still think there is no spotbeam capability for 33MHz transponders.
Not quite, the Irish channels from RTÉ, TV3 & TG4 that are encrypted have always been on a spot beam, first on 2d and later on 1n.

Ex 1N Pan European frequencies 12070H-12363V are mostly very strong now here in Finland. Quite same signal level as 2A north beam earlier, nice. 12207V, 12188H, 12110H and12363V about8dB others more than 16dB.

Yep, from a quick look it seems some channels from 1N are back on 2A.

I was talking about what i saw. That means i was talking about my location.
Can you reveal how you've calculated that ? I'd like to play a bit with the formula.

More weird issues, for example CNN freq. 12051V was yesterday about 11dB and now about 7dB. Just like 2A south beam earlier??

I tested my 80cm dish in Helsinki and as I suspected not getting a lock on any of the new 2E Europe beams, the DrHD F15 reads between 0.0-2.1dB at best. Before I was getting 12-14dB on 2A North beam and 4-6dB on the South beam.
then 2E must be about 1,5-3dB with you 80cm.(you need 95cm dish )

For info only found this :-

"" Celebrations in the areas to gain from the Europe beam ought to be muted, though. SES Astra have the capacity to carry out tweaks and adjustments to the new satellite's beams in the light of reception reports. ""

Signal levels well down here on those transponders mentioned above, looks like the following could be said of Astra 2A : There's life in the old dog yet!

Those were on 2B and then 1N. So they haven't migrated them "back" to 2A. Obviously 1N release is priority.

So looks like they are migrating all channels to their permanent homes and 2A is the stand-in for 2G.
