Hi guys,

I'll try to explain it to you the best possible way I could :p

I am preparing for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest this Friday (dress rehearsals) and Saturday (final). They are set to be broadcast, FTA, on Eutelsat W3A 7e.

Now, it's easy for me to receive all "fixed" channels on Europe A & B, with slight occasional mishaps for TV Polonia & Belsat *this problem usually resolves itself*.

In preparation I had decided to try and receive feeds that are not constant (EBU, RAI feeds). These are situated on Europe A, a beam I can get every single channel from.

Then, going on feedhunter websites, I've tried full lists of occasional feeds that had just opened... 2 of the whole lot appeared very pixelated, and the rest were just not picked up at all, while it is clear they are all there considering the feedhunter websites.

I have really set my heart on recording these shows on Friday & Saturday via this "clean" feed. I now fear I won't be able to do that due to the problem I am facing with the EBU feeds... what could possibly be the cause of this? Could anyone be of help? :)

Regards,
Yours truly

If the JESC feeds are encrypted in EBU you wont be watching anyway - its secure.

Feeds are often transmitted at much lower power than the broadcast channels - many of the feed hunters use 1.2m dishes or bigger.

The EBU feed will be FTA. But the lower power could be the possible problem... thanks for that :)

It's hit and miss for me, some I get but some I don't

I'm not familiar with your Homecast receiver but I doubt it can resolve feeds in MPEG 4:2:2 which is the format for a lot of them nowadays. When I had a Technomate receiver I could get the audio on 4:2:2 feeds but no picture. I have the AzBox now which is good for 4:2:2.

Thats easy enough to get around if the box has an ethernet connection - you stream the feed across your lan using vlc player. I watch the fta 4:2:2 sports feeds on 10E using this method.

It being a hit & miss quite sucks then :P

Well new developments from my part:
I get quite a clear, slightly pixelated view from:

Eutelsat W3A (7.0°E)
Fréquence: 10995 - Pol: H - SR: 6666 - FEC: 3/4
Catégorie: Autre
Transmis en: MPEG-2 4:2:2
Infos: Aucun commentaire

So... my receiver can apparently do 4:2:2. I also found out which signal I have to get tomorrow night:
10965 v+h 13333
Satélite: Eutelsat W3 (7º este)
422
15:58
titled 422 or "Eurovision Junior"

So I guess this means it's not a total mission impossible...

They can't afford to pay people to watch it.

:-rofl2

Is the contest on any normal channels ????
It's on every channel that is participating, plus Azeri & Aussie television. The problem is not that I can't receive it, but I just prefered the clear feed as it has no commentary and no channel logo's. I have given up on it for now and chosen to record it on Belarussian television.
