now that is Nilesat ?
Nope, Allen! This is not Nilesat @7*W. This frequency belongs to Eutelsat 7 West A with orbital position 7,3*W. Nobody in UK can receive Nilesat on dish 1,2m, same applies to The Netherlands, Belgium and other out-of-footprint countries.

Not sure about this RimaNTSS. KOS shows Oman TV HD on Nilesat 201 on 12111H and I'm receiving it on a Triax TD88. (Unless KOS are wrong and it's on Eutelsat 7 West)....and we are veering off topic LOL.

According to Lyngsat and Flysat, yes. However I must apologise to Rimant, KOS is wrong as having checked with the other two reference sites 12111 H is indeed on Eutelsat 7W. Does explain why it's a fairly easy catch for me...sorry for going off topic...

Well Nilesat 102 was always a doable catch in the UK on modest size dishes (1m and up) but you did need a 1.8m to get all channels there.

Your dish, and the problems you are having, are very similar to something we have experienced in Spain with the Famaval and particularly the GI badged famaval dishes. They both come with rubber washers to put between the back mount and the dish face to stop distortion. The Famavals have a better shaped backmount, the GI´s are not quite right and failure to use the rubber washers nearly always causes the dish to distort resulting in poor performance. I think we covered this in the Installing dishes in Spain chit-chat thread. Hope this helps

Good morning from a wet and windy Mullion Cove

I think the problem you have is due to over tightening the bolts which hold the back plate to the dish.
This is not needed as they are not standard nuts, they are Nyloc nuts so they will not come off if the tightening is not too great.
They do not need to be any more tight than to stop rattling between the back plate and the dish.
I guess you could put some rubber washers between the back plate and the dish to prevent over tightening and make the tightness slight but not rattling
Or a bit of rubber or weather strip between the flange of the backplate and the dish.

This is complete bullsh1t and just another reason not to use SSS. You do not buy something off the shelf that is supposed to be manufactured to pretty exacting tolerances only to be told you use nylocs as some kind of air spaced washer or you have to find some junk rubber and pack out the dish so it works as it should. I'd already be contacting trading standards and opening a case with Paypal. Put it all in a formal recorded delivery letter to SSS then see what they say.

Doing themselves no favours with the sat community ...
The dish is obviously suffering manufacturing defects..
It's plain to see it is not correct...
This bad PR may well effect future sales ..certainly to Sats UK members.
Accuracy is everything when it comes to intstalling a satellite dish and ANYTHING that applies undue pressure thus distorting the dish face/surface will have dire effects on reception.
I agree ..opening a dispute through Paypal is a good idea ..
get your money back and shop elsewhere..
In light of such poor customer relations and obvious lack of understanding from SSS ..members should avoid using them in future imo.
Sorry for your ordeal Allen..
This is just plain unfair and distressing.

The only reason I see for using them is that they do have things that other people do not, like Channel Master feed arms! At least that's the only place I could find them in UK.

After reading this disaster dish episode glad that my Primesat dish got lost in the post & I was given a full refund,

I will stick to quality branded dishes in future such as the excellent Gibertini range.

Just a note about Primesat\Famaval or whatever they are called locally (FaVal here), mine has been perfect and a great value for money, so problems are not universal :O)

It was asked at the start of the thread Llew, I don't think Spiff answered, it should be in the work bench section by the looks of it:-lol.

OK, thanks for that, we'll leave it as is for now. Easy enough to start another thread somewhere more appropriate if need be.

Did not mean they are no good. They are a good value for money dish and work perfectly well when set up correctly. I was just making the point that here it is a known problem about using the PROVIDED washers. The GI dishes are prone to distortion without them and I for one, am not going to ask the Russian supplier for my money back, I value my life!
