Hi ive bought the above, not sure what I will do with it yet, maybe just a play dish. it has a few dents in it I will just panel beat them out :)

you can try to mod It to cassegrein
how you gonna fix bended areas
 
It looks similar to Kathrein SATAN antenna. Perhaps made out of aluminum? Congratulations Martin, nice dish! Good luck with its renovation and installation.
 
Thanks lads from what I can make out it either precision or IRTE, the dents will be easy to get out from what I can see there is only a few minor ones the shape of the dish looks fine, it looks a little misshaped but only on the rim on the side and that wont matter,

I will use a car panel beating method to get the ones on the dish face out, I used to work on cars years ago and did a bit of panel beating at the time,

What's the chances of this dish out performing the 1.2 CM please ?, if it will out perform the 1.2 I will put it on a full arc at high level if not I will keep it at ground level as a play dish.

Its a Precision dish and it will kick the shít out of a Channel Master 1.2m dish. Precision Antennas are now trading as Elite Antennas and these people make top class satellite dishes.

Thanks for that Dave, I will go to town on it then, what is the performance with mutli lnb on this type will it still perform well ?.

I have not used a multi LNB setup on a Precision dish, I have only ever used a Precision dish with the Precision C120 Ku feed and one C120 LNB attached. Like for like, I have compared a Precision 1.5m dish with a Channel Master 1.2m dish on some of the feeds I am interested in. The Precision 1.5m dish generally outperforms a Channel Master 1.2m dish by 22% signal quality on a satellite receiver (Technomate). Typical figures are Precision 1.5m ~ 78% signal quality, Channel Master 1.2m ~ 56% signal quality. The 22% difference in signal quality is fairly constant day after day, month after month for some of the feeds I use.

Its a very good dish you have got there and at a good price.

If you decide that the non motorised fixed head mount that is currently fitted to the dish is of no use to you I would be interested in buying it?

Those Precision dishes are easy to get onto a Jaeger 1224, I have mine on a 1224 and the motor copes with the dish easily. The three fixing points on the ring on the back of the dish make the dish friendly to all sorts of mount.

The Precision dishes are very light for their size but the lighter weight does not compromise rigidity. Once you have started work on it then it will become apparent how good these dishes are.
 
Deffo a precision dish. I have two 1.2m's only one up at the mo, I had a 1.8 precision but sold that one in favour of the CM 1.8.
Excellent dishes, very expensive to buy new. BBC were a customer of precision many moons ago.

Agreed, easy to get on the 1224. My 1.2 is on one
 
The 1.5m version is somewhat rare indeed. Most production was of the 1.2 and 1.8m versions back pre2000

I have four x Jaeger 1224's, one is brand new and boxed and is a backup if any of the others fail. Of the the other three, one is one my Precision dish and the other two are scheduled to be paired up with dishes yet to be erected. Although I have four of them, they are all earmarked for some project or other.

I do have some nice top quality actuators that I could offer as a trade, they are LINAK LA30 8" optical actuators, made in Germany. They are very sensitive, ideal for inclined orbit work.

I can offer one of them as a trade for the fixed mount?

Ok, it would be a shame to butcher this mount by the sound of it, leave it with me I am sure we can come to some arrangement.
