:confused An interesting point but can you tell me why? I read somewhere a while back that adding inclined tracking enabled adjustement if needed without climbing up to the dish. As the cost of a 1224EL is little more compared with the cost of 1224 I thought it was maybe worth it.

What is the point in adding inclined tracking on a small ku-band 1.8m dish i could see the point on a large C/KU BAND 3M 4M + dish but on a small dish is the uk there is no point,

I don't just install dishes but all sort of broadcast gear,

What i am saying in the ku-band over the uk there is not enuf inclined orbit satellites that need a small dish dish that need tracking i can understand on a large dish but for a 1.8m on ku-band its pointless

If the polar mount or HtoH mount or gear driven mount is set up good in the first place then you would not need it,

The type of dishes that need inclined orbit tracking are not the type you could put on the side of your house,

I have installed alot of large 2 axis dishes and they have inclined orbit tracking to track inclined orbit satellites and to adjust as the beamwidth is so tight, When i use to have a 3.1m dish a few year back as the beamwidth was so tight if you was on say eurobird 28.5 east you would have to move the dish to watch any thing on the astra birds at 28.2 east due to the beamwidth the bigger the dish you go the narrow the beamwidth gets,

Also just to add the only satellites which would need inclined orbit track on a 1.8m dish in the uk are below but i do not think any channels broadcast on them so it is pointless,

Optus A3 inclined at 8.92°
Telecom 2C inclined at 3.51°
Telstar 11 inclined at 3.12°

On my new prodelin Series 1374-1375 3.7m dish it will have inclined tracking but this is due to the size of the dish you can see the dish here http://www.gdsatcom.com/Antennas/Data_Sheets/3-34-37ro.pdf

I did want to get this one and could have had it http://www.gdsatcom.com/Antennas/Data_Sheets/45ro.pdf but that is OTT,

It is nice to have it clarified. Being a newbie it takes ages to get all the info together and to avoid wasting money on not needed gadgets. Will stick to the 1224.

I doubt you will get very many replies for such a big dish but your chances of a reply would increase considerably if you filled in your profile information and included which part of this little old world you actually live in ;)

Rd,

Your correct but as you know inclined sats continue to get further and further from the arc unless they are able to correct themselves. I often have difficulty with certain transponders on the 20west and 8 west using my 1.8 channel master.

I dash down to the dish alter the inclination then dash back to see if theres an improvement apart from the excercise its a pain in the behind.

I have been a feedhunter for a couple of years now so i do notice small the changes.

Crossbones,

I could kiss you, Pics are perfect

Thanks alot.

Mike
