1.8m dish invacom quad prime focus mounting arms

Hello

I have a 1.8m dish and I have bought an invacom quad prime focus lnb as a result of reading this forum on the best lnb to buy for fringe reception of bbc channels as I am located in Hungary and cannot get these channels with a 90cm dish.

The problem is I dont have the three long bolts or any mounting brackets for the lnb, I have asked the local sat guy and he is clueless other than being able to supply the lnb and dish.

Can someone advise me what bracket I need and how long the bolts have to be. Some pictures of my dish are available at the following links.

Invacom don't make Prime focus LNBs as far as I know. In the quads they do the C120 flange QDF-031 and the integrated feed QDH-031. When you put the photos back, w'll be able to see what you have.

Are you sure that dish isn't bent. It looks like it's taken a serious hammering.

LOL, yes a bit battered isn't it. It isn't a particularly robust dish by the looks of it, so you may want to check how straight it is before proceeding.

Anyway, there's no arms on it to hold the LNB, so you will need to make some, or get some.

To make them, you will need to find out where the focal point of the dish is. One way of doing it is to measure the diameter and the depth of the dish.

And then you'd need a holder, if you wanted to make one yourself, you could base it on this:-

just under where is says

"This feed kit is also used with the Fortec Star range of 1.8m and 2.4m dishes"


How to make the three arms would be up to you, but you need rods that you can put a bolt into each end. ( or a nut)

Sorry about the image. It's a bit crap. It's a Famaval 1.8m. The bit in the centre that holds the LNB is known here as a spider. It's made up of 3 bits of ABS plastic screwed together to grip the feedhorn. The retail for that part is about €25. It's held to the 3 support poles by 8mm bolts. If you were to get one of these you could use M8 studding for the support arms. Use a nut and washer either side at the dish surface and the same at the "spider". Then use the calculator to work out the rough focal point to mount the LNB. Further adjustment would be easy as the studding is threaded all the way.
