1 PC in use - 1 PC as spares?

Anyone with an eye on the news will know what I am about to say is politically orientated: but for you and me on sats.uk, i'll strip out the obvious.

Just read my GuardianOnline to see that police have released some info on a major incident about a week ago, where aprox 25 people were banged-up under your new error laws.

These quotes are interesting though. Don't scan them, read them! This forum is about computers.

Person X said: "We have been carefully examining and assessing the evidence against each individual with the assistance of [other] officers in order to come to charging decisions at the earliest practicable opportunity."

and then, earlier in the article..

[More] officers had been examining 400 computers, 200 mobile phones and 8,000 computer media items such as memory sticks, CDs or DVDs, amounting to 6,000 gigabytes of data, Person Y said.

Don't know about you, but that works out at 16 PC's a piece and 8 mobiles each (not including - OK lets include the 320 media devices these people were supposed to have).

I know, you want to say 'wider net of suspects'. I, on the otherhand, shudder at the thought of the obvious: like 1 PC in use and maybe 1 PC as spares - Uumm, but that's not circa 25, but, at least 200?

Clearly Mr. X didn't think about the repercussions of his statement. There will be morons from every corner of the UK wondering if their maths skills are as dubious as mine. Xenophobic numbnuts will love this.

Its all going to end in tears. Not nice.

Must confess that the numbers struck me as being large, they will of course have taken every computer in all of the houses, so possibly from several members of each family/household and also they raided at least one internet café, the same with phones and perhaps each suspect had several phones for component use, or making call monitoring less easy.

Who knows? Only time will tell.
