100% newbie looking for advice

Evening Gents,

I'm after a bit of advice please? This is my 1st post here, though I've read a lot of the threads and have managed to learn quite a lot so far! Thanks a lot everyone....

I've just bought a satellite system which is being installed on Monday. This consists of:-

Technomate TM5402 HD Super
TRIAX TD110 1.1M Satellite Dish
Superior Dark Motor DiseqC 1.2
Technomate LNB Universal Twin Output TM-2 0.1dB

This will be watched on my LG 50' HD ready tv and will compliment my SkyHD package.

I appreciate, I'm not up & running yet, but when I am 'live' I'd liek to access channels to watch Premier League.

What I'd like to understand is:-
  • to watch the Prem League footy, does anyone have any recommendations re which package to subscribe to (other than Sly)?
  • Where is best to purchase the cards from?
  • Will cards simply 'plug & play'?
  • is there anything else I need to consider?
I live in St Helier, Jersey b.t.w with a good South facing aspect

Any help will be massively appreciated.
 
One of the best packages at the moment for premier league is Viasat I believe, it is not cheap though.

Don't suppose the card would work in your receiver either, as the card is normally sold with a receiver.

Also worth checking that you can pick up the Nordic beam on 4.8E.

Viasat Nordic beam probably isnt viable in Jersey at it will need a VERY big dish indeed. The op is in the worst possible place in the UK for Viasat reception!

SKy Italia will give you a reasonnable selection of 3pms but expect to pay getting on for £2k a year for the HD version if you need to use a uk based reseller.
 
What about Nova from Greece? Or Sport Tv from Portugal?

Are they the same - require card and synced receiver?

Would u recommend a card supplier at all?

Dont just check 4.8E. 4.8E Europe beam will be very easy, but 4.8E nordic is where the footie is.

Ask him what size dish he uses for the pubs.


Check out the site sponsors for cards.

The pubs seem to mainly be using Viasat at the moment, I ve done quite a few of dishes for them.
( Can't stand football myself, LOL)
 
Many of them will require a cam at the very least.

As for suppliers well any of the forum advertisers can be trusted, although as Ive already mentioned if you have to use a uk based reseller then it will be far more expensive than if you have friends / family in the country you are interested in

Ok

The system is all installed and working.

I can access 4.8E Sirius 2/3 and see all the Viasat channels with a strength of between 58 - 62%. Info is available via "i" button but obviously the channels are scrambled.

Getting a far better signal off 13.0E Hotbird for NovaSports - approx 85%
 
Tring+ is good card to get one for 200 pounds that shows 3pm games but doesn't show them all
 
not sure if the auction is still on but on the auction place there was a seller doing viasat lativan for 1300, 36mth prepaid with pvr receiver

viasat would be best but make sure you can receive the channels on 11747v viasat extra pl, 12399V and 12456H tv2 premier league hd 1-3. but your looking at a dish 1.8m at least i would think to get a shot of receiving the nordic beam 24/7.

be aware with tring there has been issues with opening the 3pm games some people have been ok and others not.
 
How's the $ky Italia pack Wod you lucky b@stard? I've been left in limbo in regards to the EPL, cant makeup my bloody mind!

Its has been working fine no issues, I thought you had the sport card ?

That's what I've read too.

Strangely, I get Tring Sports 1 unscrambled (cr@p picture tho), Tring Sports 2, 3 & 4 although also being unscrambled I'm just getting a message "No Audio / Video" despite quality at 84%.

These are all on 16.0E 11.283V 27.500
 
I don't think they broadcast until 5-10 minutes before showing a live game. Check in 2 weeks time, when the EPL starts again.
