Good evening from a wet and windy Mullion Cove Cornwall.

11 West.

I am fairly certain that I once had some strong channels on this sat ?

Now just a couple of carriers, one on 10.983 V another on 10.959 H there may be others.

As far as I can tell from the heading they are from the correct direction.

Looked online but could not sort out anything of great help.

Any advice appreciated God Bless Spiff

Thank you for that the carriers on the transponders I received were strong, but a scan resolved nothing.

Will give that one up : )

I believe it is a Russian sat, they tried to park one of their ships on Falmouth beach a couple of days ago : @

We pushed it off : )

Probably data carriers of some sort. The Rete Capri mux was on 11w until fairly recently. It moved house to 3w a month or so back.

Thank you for that : )

3 West is another that has disapeared, I shall take another look : )

I used to receive Hellas Sat on it but nothing else.

11W was one of the first (though not THE first) C band satellites that I received. Two relatively boring Yank versions of Russian state channels are still there many, many years later.

I do wonder who watches these as it's shifted by around 5 hours from normal programming and C band footprint doesn't extend to US.

Good morning Captain Jack,

Thank you for your reply : )

I set my 1.4m C band up on 20 East and 5 West, that was as far as I got with it.

5 West being quite strong, 20 East disappears at night at the moment.

Is the signal on C band 11 West strong enough for a 1.4m ?

If you have the transponder frequency to hand, I should be grateful.

I used to get the KU signals at good strength on 11 West.

It's the only one there...

3662R
SR 10808

1.4m should be fine and it's a very forgiving TP, with FEC of 1/2. I could get it with my 1.2m Fibo.

Thank you Captain Jack,

I shall have a look for that later, Alanna wishes to visit Tesco in Helston, so I had better stop playing : )

I've managed to get this sat on a 120cm CM dish but can only get 1.82db - is this normal for a dish of that size or what should be expected?

thanks

Most of the activity on Express-AM44 @ 11° West is on the steerable 2 beam to the Middle East,
I used to get good signals with a 88cm dish about 5 years ago from 11° West ,

I would say no, just scanned it with EBS pro and get signals ranging from 5db to 14.5db, mostly all data feeds, with 1 sport feed at about 8.5db.
This is on a 1.5m Nr Manchester.

Thanks - the only channel I get is the russian one but the dish must not be properly aligned.

Are we talking about C-band or KU?

Ah, yeah, he must mean c band, I was on about ku..... oops.
