Putting the feelers out for a 100cm dish.

Ideally looking for a 100cm Gibertini.

Failing that an Orbital 100cm or a Triax TD110.

100cm is my limit due to space and motor so not interested in anything bigger really.

I’d be very much interested in the Channel Master.

I am pretty sure my motor will drive it.

Where are you based?

I am in North Somerset. The motor should have no issues driving it but you'll need to construct some form of mount for it to fit.

Had a feeling that would be the case! Kind of rules out the Channel Master then.

Can the Fibo be pole mounted? I don't know a lot about them but impressed by it's gain figures.

Do you mean on the DiSEqC motor? Yes it can be but still needs some minor fabrication (I may have adapters to fit those stub motors somewhere...). Feel free to come around and have a rummage!

Yes a diseqc motor.

Thanks for the offer, I think I am going to hold out for a more conventional 1m.

Hopefully a Gibertini, Orbital or Triax turns up.

If the Triax mounts are the same as they used to be avoid them - they are hideous to adjust - you need about 8 arms! Even when you have them adjusted the arms droop and need a bit of support under them at the dish end.

I have a TD65 and I agree, they're horrible.

Ideally I want to upgrade my 85cm Gibertini to a 100cm. I really like the build quality and mount on it.

Secondly an Orbital would be great as I used to have one.

Somewhere in England (possibly?)!
I have a TD65 and I agree, they're horrible. Totally agree - a bugger to even get the arm properly set up (Tip: bolt the bloody thing to the dish face using a couple of M6 bolts & nuts to stop it moving, but even doing that is a real trial!), and, frankly not worth the effort as compared with just buying ANOTHER 70cm dish.

Ideally I want to upgrade my 85cm Gibertini to a 100cm. I really like the build quality and mount on it. Agreed. Never had an 85cm or 100cm one, but my (used from a local eBay seller!) 1.2m is a beaut, even if very heavy and at the limit of what a Dark Motor can handle. CH installed it a couple of years ago and it's still working extremely well (DM issues apart:rolleyes:!).

Secondly an Orbital would be great as I used to have one.

I have a backup unused Orbital in the garage but I'm not driving to the Midlands with it. Also a Gibby but it needs work on the elevation bolts.

A local good second hand 1m should turn up soon, there are mix and match ones out there though so be careful.

Have you thought about a Viasat/Tooway Ka band dish and modding the front end ?

Out of interest what stops you from going slightly larger ?

I regret giving my old Orbital away to my mate but I was living in an apartment at the time. It was in excellent condition and performed pretty well. It’s still going well now and I bought it in 2009. I can’t seem to find them any more, when did they cease production?

The limitation is numerous things really.
I want to keep my diseqc motor. Not really interested in going down the 36v route.

My mount isn’t durable enough for a big Channel Master or Gibertini 1.2.

There is a really strong chance I will be moving home in the next 18 months and for that reason, I need to keep the patio mount as I want to pick it up and chuck it in a van.

The neighbours here are delicate to say the least. It needs to be hidden and hiding a 1.2 would be difficult.

I don’t really have a need for a 1.2. A 1M will get me everything I need. My 85cm is performing really well, just some feeds break up in the rain on 7e and 10e.

I have a TD110 sitting idle in my loft.

Notwithstanding the tricky elevation adjustment, which I did eventually figure out how to deal with when the dish was in use, it's a good performer and happy on a DiSEqC motor.

The TD110 has dimensions the neighbours would object to.

Some "tricks" for "hiding" a dish that I and others have learnt over the years:
- try to position it in front of a background of "something else" - trees, vegitation, a wall, etc, and as low as possible (ground mounting is probably best if possible). In my case, that's the 6ft+ high fence that next door neighbours had erected for "privacy reasons", and the 35ft tree in their garden next to the fence!
- If possible,, position it & the pole behind something that prevents it being seen - in my case, that's the combination of my greenhouse & garage, and the lowish trees & trellising that prevent my other neighbours seeing the dishes
- paint the dish to blend in with the background - and somewhat randomly if the background is vegetation or a tree (many tips for doing this on the forum)
- Maybe cover it with "camouflage" netting like this stuff which I put over both the Gibby & TD110 a couple of years ago after having reported "bed in a shed" issues with several houses very close to me, and expecting council inspectors to come & take a look at those - and maybe see my dishes at the same time! However, it seems that the council ignored those issues and never came around here - so I took the netting off the Gibby about a year ago (the netting on the TD110 stayed in place because it is the higher dish and was too much trouble to remove)
- see my "We see no dishes" thread from a couple of years ago, and just before the "bed in a shed" issues and the netting, to get an idea of what I'm talking about!
