Better day today, still cold but at least dry with some sunshine. Feed alignment and installation done for AV-Comm barrel / Norsat 8000RI / Polarity servo combo. More care and attention paid to the task in hand today. Had been in contact with Julian @ Elite Antennas just to establish and double check a few things for the 2.2. F/P = 755 mm confirmed, F/D ratio = 0.34, FeedHorn Beamwidth = 143.3°, width and depth easy to do for calculations requirements. So .... using an adjustable angle finder set to 143.3° sat & fixed into the front throat of the barrel and extended the length of the device using string to the outer reflective edge of the reflector worked out spot on. The meeting point of the two angles within the barrel throat,s phase & focal point made it 8mm into the barrel. Measuring the Focal point at this position gave 755mm exactly as per antenna design. Conventional flat scalar placed at a point on the barrel to suit a F/D ratio of 0.34 ..... no final scalar position tweek at this stage as run out of time but does seem to be pretty much on the spot. Strung the reflector at multiple points and was happy with that. Finished the Norsat 8000RI + polarity servo feed and did some brief tests on 65°West on 4.5-4.8 GHz only with very good results. Will continue to document asap. A few pics to try and illustrate the days proceedings. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
