1.8 CM dismantle time has come today ...
Just a box of bits and bobs now , Old Precision triangle back bracket refurbed, polar mount bearings checked and all ok. Platform prepped for 2.2mtr to be installed.

... Got me bitch by me side and me reflector mounted, need to do a bit of paint touch up around the edge that was sat on the floor previous. Will try and get a cable connected to a temp Cband lnb tomorrow .

Magnificent, a site to behold, well done.

The semi gloss paint finish looks good, its the right balance, a matt may have been too dull and a full gloss to bright, semi gloss finishes it off a treat.

Yep, it's not turned out too bad. It looks very similar to the ones i was looking at down at Elite's the other week. Out of a possible three options of applying the paint ie: brush/roller/spray, then i think to spray would have been the best finish, but finding a suitable paint that could be sprayed on would then be another task to do. Iv'e a 20yr old or so 1.2 Precision and the paint finish on that is a slightly more matt finish but some of that could be down to weathering over all those years ??.

The Zinwell to AV-Comm barrel was a tad too tight for smooth rotation of around 200° so needed to be sorted as it kept binding at the extreme end of travel range. Parallel alignment of barrel shaft and Zinwell shaft is fairly critical to obtain smooth operation over a wide range of travel.
Next job is to re-fit the camera at the bottom lip of reflector to keep an eye on what the polarity servo is doing and then final focal point / scalar adjustment position for optimum performance.

Not much to see today, fabricated a new bracket for the dish cam to fix to the outer reflector ring.

... just an end of day pic of the new girl Ellie basking in the late afternoon sun looking at 0.8° W. Installation is nearly all complete now.
