Just Sharing This 2.2mtr Elite / Precision resurection.

The Previous 2.2mtr Precision PF antenna was storm damaged beyond repair and was scrapped a few years ago.
A 1.8CM offset has been modified for multiband use and has given good results but it's time for a change.
Enter the replacement & new kid on the block --- the Elite Antennas 2.2mtr PF.
Work now in progress ...

Pics- New reflector rigged for work to commence of custom support arms and adjustable AV-Comm barrel support.
The 2.2 Precision pic is before it had it's storm damage.

I tried D, i tried lol. Julian remembered and mentioned you when we were having a quick chat which was nice. There were some king posts kicking about as well for Graham but was for customers unfortunately lol.
It was nice to meet Julian & Helen who both gave me a warm welcome and Helen made me a coffee which was nice.
The guy that spun the dish, and is the guy in the "spinning" video was the same guy that worked at Precision Antennas who told me he had been there for 31 yrs i think he said before coming to Elite Antennas and he spun both my old 2.2 as well as the new one. Got to meet the chap that does the welding & fabrication on the antennas as well, nice pair of blokes.
A very nice and interesting visit it was, especially a bit of a tutorial and hands on experience from Julian with a 4.5mtr Ka antenna set up for surface accuracy testing.

The Transit Luton van was a dream to drive but the journey itself, especially around the Birmingham outer motorway & toll area was a utter utter stressful nightmare.

I was careful to name no names but you have grassed yourself up me 'owd cock sparra lol.

... Fitted the support arms fixings, dish / AV-Comm barrel rigged up with 755mm focal length position ready for support arm material to arrive so i can fabricate the support arm bracketry at the barrel end.
Need to get the AV-Comm barrel machined down a bit more now to make suitable for a PF scalar etc.

Not much progress here, filthy wet & cold weather and also waiting for AV-Comm barrel to come back from extra machining.
Done some work on support arms as far as i can go until the barrel comes back, also started work on the barrel tripod arm support bracket.

Yes, trialling 20mm x 6mm at the moment and the barrel tripod holder seems solid enough when all the joints are tightened up. There will be far less weight on the end of the arms on this installation ... but, if i,m not happy i'll increase to 20mm x 8mm ali flat.
Pictures show a rough mock-up of barrel holder before final alignment measurements have been taken and metal work cut to final positions ..... need my barrel back asap so i can continue.

Looks good gets the arms away from the scalar ring, and adjustable for the feed, presume weld some nuts with bolt travelling through to hold AV barrel in place in the holding ring.

Yep, presumed spot on matey. The barrel holder holes are tapped out now for 8mm grub screws but will add the nuts as well.

Thought that was the plan , yes noticed the top wrote on the dish, obviously it matters on the precision with the ring mounting. mine could go any way up,

When I picked the holder up today I wanted a 30mm (have 25mm) to do the same thing allow left/right movement, I have ordered a 30mm, will drill larger holes on the holder to allow for fine tweaking

Do you know the reason why the Precision antenna are mounted with the single strut in the "northern hemisphere"? I have assumed it was for a heavy LNB arrangement as the load bearing downwards is better supported by two struts rather than a single one?

Interestingly, the Precision polar mount for a 1.5m dish mounts the dish with the single strut in the "southern hemisphere". Presumably they were thinking a 1.5m dish would not be used with any heavily laden LNB arrangements

Going back to your install, top class stuff so far, this is a corker of a topic as is "blades" 2.4m topic.

@John Nice project! How long are those 3 alu struts? And there is other way to make LNB holder However, any way is OK if it fit for purpose.
