2 DM's in same room - remote control conflict?

My Satellite Setup
AzBox HD Prem with Alps LNB's @ 13/16/19/23/28E on a Triax 1.1 & Orbital 90 @ 1W.
My Location
East, East, East London.
I'm sure I read somewhere (here maybe? though search was fruitless) that you can change the RC codes that dreamboxes receive. I've got an 800 and a 500 in the same room the fact that the remotes are basically the same is causing problems.

Thanks.

There is an excellent thread by B16MCC regarding remotes.
Worth searching for it.
I had once the same problem with two Nokia receivers, and I just covered the IR receiver of the one that is doing the recording with a piece of carton made from a tea bags box. Worked like a charm.

Thank you both, I actually did it! My first manual plugin install as well. That thread was pretty brain melting - I'm glad the bit I needed was pretty simple.

hmm, the plugin alone won't get you anywhere mate. You still need to program your remote as well.

If I remember correctly you can set a dreambox remote to one of the 4 different code sets using a combination of button presses. If you can select which set your 800 receives like you can on some E2 images you can leave the 500 as it is.

What we did was to program our remotes so you only need one to seperately control both boxes. I press Dream button for my 7025, Shift then Dream for my 7000, TV for my TV and Shift then Video to operate my DVD player. All that is done using just one of the large Dreambox remotes. The volume and mute buttons operate the TV no matter what you selected. If you are in Dreambox mode, pressing shift then volume (or mute) will operate the Dreambox Volume and not the TV volume.

Read the thread it is fairly simple to do as we did all the hard work of gathering the info and learning how to do it for you.

Setting remotes up is one thing I can do. Pretty much done them all in my time from Pronto to Mosaic to Nevo to Harmony. The basic DM remote set up is pretty similar to one-for-all and the like. Linux is the thing I'm struggling to get to grips with!

I set My 800 remote to level 2 and using the plugin I told the 800 to except only level 2. Now my Harmony remote works only the 500 and the 800 remote works only the 800 - just got got to teach the harmony the new 800 codes and I'm set.

My TV setup has got to be very impatient wife friendly - not easy with 3 receivers, amp, 360 etc! Thank Logitech for Harmony.

@ Renegade:
Hello!
I have the same issue but with 2 clone DM800 boxes. The problem is that remotes on clones can't be reprogrammed. So I could solve the issue by buying an original DM800 remote or better by buying a Logitech Harmony. The problem is that I would then need to get codes for the box with level 2 somewhere. Would you be able to send me those from your remote?

Thank you for your answer,

Lovro

If you contact Logitech Harmony support through the website, they will set up a device for you as dreambox have given them the full set of remote commands (they fixed some problems I had with a DM600/Harmony this way). I would warn you though, I have had quite a bit of trouble with dreamboxes and Harmony - eventually you get it to work, but it requires perseverence, and in your case you would not be able to train commands that are wrong, so it could turn out to be quite a challenge. I think I would go for buying an original remote.
