can I use a smart priority switch (digiality) with a Jaeger SuperJack V-Box II?
any other options??
2 dreamboxes, one actuator.
 
Yes ...you can ..
Since the V-box is driving only one actuator arm ..and receives a diseqc 1.2 command from which ever receiver is currently on-line ..(prioritised) ...
There should be no problems at all ..

I can see a problem. (actually more than one)

For certain positions on the arc, the receivers could tell the dish where it should be by stored positions within the memory of the VBox, however if you are fine tuning onto a satellite (for example pulling in a weak transponder on 1W) the nudging of the positioner will move the motor and offet the original reference point by a couple of counts. Next time you use the other receiver, that offset will be contained over the whole of the arc.

You make a fair point CH ..
But I'm using exactly this setup ..and have been for over a year now ..without any problems ..
But ...
I only ever use the Vbox remote for fine tuning ...ie no nudging ...and save commands issued by the receiver.
That way ..changes in dish/actuator are only affected and recorded internally within the confines of the Vbox ..
and postions merely 'called up' by the receivers..

..In actual fact I use 2 Vboxes daisy chained ..as I have another actuator controlling the elevation of the dish for inclined birds ..
The same stored (number) position being common to both Vboxes ..so when say Express AM1 (incl. 1.4°) is called up by whichever receiver is -on-line- at that time ..
A command to move to postion 40 is issued ..and both postion and elevation is automatically adjusted to find the bird..

I use 2 different brand v-boxes ..so thet have seperate remote controll commands ..so as to avoid confusion when making 'fine adjustments' and setting up a sat position.

It shouldn't. Let's say you send the motor to position #1 and that position corresponds to -0375. Now nudge the motor 5 counts to the west (-0370). Now if you press #1 the dish will get driven back to -0375. It is only if you do Adjust Shift and then Save on the V-box that all your positions will shift.

I suspect what CH was getting at ..is that if a receiver issues a store command so writing information to the Vbox ...and it isn't possible to manually determine the store number during the process ..for example my F15 works this way ..
Then theoretically a new position is written and stored within the Vbox memory ..in the next available memory location ..
Thus you _could_ end up with 2 stored positions for any given point on the arc ...creating confusion ..
Thats why I always use the Vbox remote ...and always store any changes to a specified location...according to a chart I keep on the PC in document form..

It doesn't work like that. The receiver always decides the position number, not the V-box. If the number is already in use it will just be overwritten, but only that position, it won't shift all the other satellites.

BTW, personally I always do any setting up/nudging/saving/shifting directly with the V-box remote, not the receiver. The receiver is just used to send a DiSEqC 1.2 position number to the V-box, nothing more.

I agree ..thats the way most of my boxes work ...
Thats why I always use the vbox remote to make changes ...
Position 1 will always be 0.8West ....Express AM1 is always position 40 ....55 West is always position 25 and so on ..
This way I avoid writing new positions in next available locations ..
But does require an receiver editor (such as the F15)...to manually determine and set those stored locations to specific satellite postions within the receivers memory.
..some receiver firmwares _do_ allow these corellations to be edited through the menu ...so don't require an editor ..for example the Openbox S9HD

VS, I don't know if you saw my edit above.

The main problem you have is editing the position number, as some sat boxes have this fixed in the firmware. Enigma 2 is great because you tell it the position number for each satellite, but if you had 2 non-editable firmwares with preset position numbers you will have problems/collisions.

...having just hit my send button on the last post ..left the house and then braved the 70mph gusts and driving rain to get into work ..where I now am ..
Busy panicing ...atm ...by dishes wont survive this without some damage ..of that I'm convinced..
