2 X LNBs on a Dreambox

My Satellite Setup
Dreambox 800HD 500Gb X 2, Dreambox 500S X 2, VBox 2, Jaeger 99G H to H 36v, Inverto SilverTech Quad LNB 0.2dB, 95cm Maxx Digital Mesh Dish 42E-45W, Technomate TM 2600 H to H Diseqc, Inverto Ultra black LNB 0.2dB , 85cm Transparent Dish 42E-1W.

Is it possible for a DM800 to operate a motorised dish via Disceqc and switch to a second LNB fixed on a single weak satellite. If so what do I need? Is it a Disceqc switch? Would this still pass the signal through to the motor?

I have set up 36 volt positioning systems before, using a DiSeqC switch, and then updated the system to a VBox 2 when the original receiver gave up the ghost.

So, I would have to say, yes, it can be done.

The DiSEqC motor needs a position code from the receiver to move, the switch just needs authorisation over the port to be used.

The only thing that might stop you is the motor will be the loss of the LNB voltage (and therefore the voltage to the motor) when you switch to the fixed dish, so it may be you need a four way switch, and connect the LNB on the moving dish to another port to that of the motor, just in case.

Different motors have different characteristics when they are connected/disconnected from the voltage source, so you may have to experiment.
 
It is a Vbox, but for all intents and purposes, it is just actioning Diseqc commands. The Dreambox seems to allow allocation of a satellite by LNB, so I'm assuming LNB selection is via a Diseqc switch. I've never used one of these switches so don't know much about them. If I've switched to the fixed dish on a particular satellite, I'm not expected the motor to move so power to it would be irrelevant anyway wouldn't it?
 
True, but if you change switch position while the dish is still moving, the reference point in the receiver count will be lost, and (depending on the motor type) you may have to go reset to zero.
 
It was embarrassingly easy in the end. I have the the motor set to LNB 1 Diseqc 1.2 and no USALS. I added the Diseqc switch (4way) and set LNB 1 committed Diseqc command to AA. Then set the new dish to LNB 2 Diseqc 1.2 and the committed Diseqc command to AB. I must admit I did have to reboot after adding the switch as initially it only provided an A / B command option - I'm not sure whether the reciever is able to identify the type of switch? Looking at the menu, it looks straightforward at have the second dish motorised as well. I think I've seen a thread somewhere.

The only down side is that I seem to have re-introduced the interference on the NME channel at 28E which I thought I'd solved by moving my DECT phone basestation upstairs. Perhaps I need to put a Faraday cage around the Diseqc switch!
 
May I ask you smiffie how you connected the switch to the motor, did you go from receiver direct to motor and the motror switch and LNB to switch? the reason i ask is that i am having problems connectiing a similar system. Many thanks
 
The switch is connected directly to the reciever and the position commands are passed through it onto the motor. I don't really see why you would put the switch on the other side of the motor?
