Another interesting query. Here goes, regarding 26 East Badr 3/4. Tp 11 - 11919 H shows an individual beam mbc not receivable in UK. I can pull this in no problem with an 88cm. (flysat & lyngsat show the footprint for middle east only. Is this a mis-print or is that Tp on the BSS beam??

Are most of the Middle East, BSS and FSS beams receivable in the UK and what dish sizes are recommended?

Cheers

I rather suspect that is a convenient work of fiction rather like the Astra 2D coverage area so that the MBC channels can continue to transmit fta....

Ok cheers, in which case I am very impressed with the signals being pulled in with a TD88 & Invacom LNB for testing. (78% signal / 99% Quality) on 11919 Tp11.
Technical - 77dBuV, BER 2E4, Noise margin 5

So...what's the conclusion. Is Tp11 mbc 11919H on a tighter footprint away from the Uk?

Clean signals picked up in all weather conditions with a 88cm dish & invacom. Is it that the better LNB is pulling it in?

Footprints aren't conclusive when you are outside the intended footprint! :) They're only ever a general guide. I would say that there is a large inaccuracy with that beam though. Some transponders are much stronger than others when you are well outside a footprint.

This beam on Badr 4 11919H 27500 is much weaker than the other transponder's on this satellite & it is no myth that the beams on this are restricted same as with Astra 2D in Southern Spain reception is next to impossible without a very large dish,
To get good reception on satellites that do not have a footprint in your area a good match with Lnb & Dish is essential sometimes it can work ok with a 88cm dish with a well matched Lnb & in the same location a 104cm dish with the wrong Lnb will get nothing from MBC on Badr-4,
The Focus of the Lnb onto the dish makes all the difference.

The better Lnb will pull in the signals if the Lnb is matched to the dish {re focus of the entire dish is spot on & the feed horn on the Lnb is round on a dish that is higher than it is wide so that from the Lnb arm the Lnb see the dish as a circle as opposed to an elipical horn Lnb used for a dish that is wider than it is high like a Sky mini dish or an eliptical raven dish.

The new Badr 6 shows 4x 187MHz transponders in the frequency plan - what would these be used for?

They may be the one's that we cannot receive in Europe :confused
I have suggested to flysat that 11804H 27500,11862V 27500,11900V 27500 are all on a tighter footprint either BSS or steerable beam, flysat agree & have adjusted their footprint maps as for MBC this is more difficult during the day but ok in the evening.

Hello !
i have tested now the bader 6 satelite, with the gregory 1,25m on 3 transponder i have no signal all others working, but some are very weak, 11806 V, and 11900 needs in eastern germany 3,70m Fullsize dish,i got reports on german satelite board!

on 11806 V i have Signal here, with the gregory dish on 11900 V still no signal, this are the transponders i can receive, tested with cloudy sky this morning now its sunny,in night time normaly it works much better,i will see..!

signals weakest 34% .45% for 11806 V,and the rest 6D in Dvb 2000 like on Astra!

mbc and rotanna on a triax 1.1m dish and an mti 0.2 lnb 76% signal on DM7000S equates to 28% signal on the vertical on my horizon hdsm v2.5 meter,,,,steve

A bit offset question, but just curious, how much amount of money per monthly basis an average person who wants to watch these channels can pay for it?

I can set-up a completely separate system, with own dish and battery backup, which will be able to broadcast stuff from 11919H over internet with good quality?

Don't forget that many of us in the UK have agricultural Broadband!

For example, my max. speed is 512k !

Even allegedly fast connections close to exchanges in major population centres are not always what they are cracked up to be.

So, for a great many of us, decent quality TV via the Interwebthingy is a pipe-dream, sadly.

Bring on those Optical Fibres we were talking about over twenty years ago.

hm, using 512kbit connection, when allocating 96kbit for AAC audio, and remaining for H.264 video, gives quite good picture quality, almost same as good aerial. if using 768-1024kbit, quality will be even better, almost indistinguishable from original signal.

btw - 5mbit fiber optic connection here costs €15/month.
