Ku-band Spot 2 Beam (_w_w_w.lyngsat-maps.com/footprints/Intelsat-907-Spot-1.html) receivable in Gran Canaria South (Maspalomas) with 120 cm dish, Inverto Black Ultra LNB and Technomate TM-5402 HD M2 receiver. Receiver shows 97% signal with 63% quality.
 
Nice result - been following your "will it? won't it" Posts elsewhere.

Let's hope that the Channels of interest remain accessible in the longer term .................

Further to my report above I have now set up a second system to receive this TP. The equipment is identical, except that the original installation used a Gibertini offset dish and the new one is using a Televes (120 cm). The location is about 5 Km inland from the original one which is by the coast.

I am extremely disappointed with the results on the new installation. There is no signal in the morning and early afternoon with things improving gradually after that, with perfect reception late afternoon and throughout the evening (but only about 58% quality).

The dish is second hand and I suppose it is possible it has suffered some distortion. If not, I guess the Televes dish is just more poorly manufactured than the Gibertini.

Additionally, I have taped a second LNB onto the main one. This is pulling in Hispasat at 97% quality, so at least I can watch BBC World News.

Blueplatinum for a more long term fix of the second LNB onto 27.5 for 30w get two 40mm pipe clips from the fontaneria and screw them together then fit one clip onto the existing LNB and fit the other LNB in the other clip.
Works a treat, costs about a euro.
 
Excuse me if this is a stupid question but when you say 120cm dish, can this be any reasonable dish from that size upwards?
 
The bigger the better 120cm is only just big enough. The local sat guy here installs 140 cm.
 
You need a good LNB too. Inverto Black Ultra works well.
 
I am getting 27.5 E on C-Band on the East Hemi beam, but no luck on the Ku Band.

11611 V,2915,5/6,16APSK-new symbol rate.

Despite the fact that the signal has dropped significantly in my area, and because of this I can no longer find out if and how many transponders are active after BBC satback left the satellite, it is amazing to me that I can still run the two IPTV streams on 11611 V with an SNR below 6dB.

Obviously, this transponder is on Intelsat 901 and not 907!

C-band reception at 27.5W is worth trying because the parameters used (FEC 1/2 and DVB-S) are favorable for reception with any device.
Even with weak signal in my area, but especially with a small antenna, plus interference, I was able to lock all the transponders reported on the satellite lists:
3830 R8841,1/2,S2- RDP,
3843 R,5633,1/2-RTG1,
4135 R,19044,3/4,S2-GS.

C-band reception at 27.5W is worth trying because the parameters used (FEC 1/2 and DVB-S) are favorable for reception with any device.

Inspired again to have a look at the reception of 27.5° W Cband from the 2.2mtr PF / AVComm poloriser with Titanium 5G lnbf / multi lnb changer.
For anybody not familiar with my threads regarding the destruction of Cband Dx'ing from my location mainly from a cell churning out high power 5G at 3.79GHz and lower, that is less than 300mtrs away due South and pointing straight up the street directly into my antenna, i have to say again how impressive the Titanium 5G lnbf performs for the price. Example - previous equipment tried: high end Norsat 5G lnb coupled into ALGA RED external 5G filter + shipping + taxes £1000 area. The Titanium 5G lnbf total cost £120 area - BIG difference.
Promax grab shows a reasonably flat gain across the band compared to a lot of other cheap examples, of the Titanium 5G lnbf from 4.2GHz to 3.885 and then drops rapidly towards 3.800GHz but still has the ability to fend off the strong nasty 5G output and lock me the close signal at 3830 R.
On a domestic hobby use level i find it impressive.

John satesco and anto, I have just tried 27.5W. I have a Primesat LNB and a Titanium C1W-PLL with the offset scalar rings. I first of all put the right frequencies and s/r s into the GT Combo. It shows about 10% for each of the 1/2 fec sigs but no lock. C band here with a 1.2m CM dish really is a challenge. The Russians at 40E come in but they are much stronger.

Well done for trying the 1.20m antenna. At this size, it is hard to lock a 39.1 dBW signal on your area, even if the parameters are favorable to weak signal. The same signal strength also covers my area but, as you already know, with my 1.50m antenna.
It is true that there is a difference in sensitivity (big in some cases) between Kaonsat LNB with 13°K noise figure and Titanium C1W-PLL with 15°K.

Whereas at 40.0E in C-band, you have a signal of 43~45dBW, which helps reception even with smaller antennas.
I don't know exactly how much it is in your area, but I assume that after the correct LNB setting, you can get around 7~8dB with a 1.20m antenna.
Am I wrong?
