This is obviously going to be the frequency the SD channels move to as the SD service is wound down & the so called "BBC Nightlight" sustaining service is put into place until the final closedown in 2024. I thought it might be 12422H as this is the one the red button services have been added to every summer for years.

10818V is believed to be the first DVB-S tp that is being converted to DVB-S2 for the new HD services

Im seeing 2 x BBC1 services & 1 BBC News with 2 radio channels on it too (Possibly R Foyle & R Wales although I dont have time to do fuller checks)

Where could be the new home of Red button next summer? Which transponder? Very important for Wimbledon.

It may well be just HD DVB-S2 next summer as SD is being wound down. Whatever happens this is DEFINITELY the last year of SD Wimbledon if it happens at all.

BBC could easily contract capacity from SES on an ad hoc basis for a few weeks over the summer - there are plenty of transponders not currently in use at 28E.

DVB-S QPSK as these are SD channels for people without HD boxes. SD Sky and Freesat receivers don't support DVB-S2.

Ohh I really do not hope so! It would be a very bad choice by the BBC.
So, honestly I do not believe that BBC does not broadcast such major event like Wimbledon on satellite.
Hoping to continue to watch all 6 Red button services next summer. Maybe in HD, why not?
But please, do not drop Wimbledon!!

10 years from now the majority of services will be delivered via iptv....... Satellitte tv will be dying out in the countries with good fibre connectivity.

Is UK one of these countries? Italy is not. You are in better conditions than me regarding internet, very few fiber connections here.

Fiber connectivity is very good in UK cities and most of the major towns. With the roll-out aswell of 5G this will only speed up the transition to IPTV however there has been heavy opposition to 5G masts going up.

4G has no trouble carrying IPTV for UHD video/audio content even at a third of its maximum delivery speed.

I believe the current wealth of ISPs along with the mobile provider minions already recognised the difference between official and not so official streams passing through their networks, so that a fully rolled out 5G service doesn't end up as a pirates free for all.

Enabling a VPN is no guarantee of remaining under the radar now that every region on the planet has been bagged by the cartel in charge.

My 4G service varies from 1 to 75Mbit/s depending on time of day. Dropping to 3G results in a more stable 8 to 21Mbit/s - probably due to less people using it. The jitter and bandwidth variability makes streaming frustrating with random frame skipping, resolution drops and occasional buffering. If everyone in the area was using mobile data for TV (no fiber here) then it'd grind to a halt. I've yet to stream anything live that betters the linear satellite version :/
