7500 is the program, 15000 is Channel 4's cameras from the track

As can be seen from Jamie A's original post the 4K feed is 4x1080p so they'd have to upscaled to 4K, and Channel 4 doesn't broadcast in 4K anyway. Also the 7500 programme feed is 1080i not p and may just be a backup.

the 4K feed (4x1080p) is 4k they have the 4k trucks there the cameras say 4k on them to aswell as the monitors in the control room say 4k on them aswell 4k feed, could be that they have decided to film F1 in 4k this year, as its starting to get the norm now adays so maybe they will broadcast in 4k hdr aswell like the bbc does on iplayer

If the final output is 1080i why waste bandwidth (and money) by sending everything over satellite in 4K? Also the RF bandwidth for the wireless C4 cameras around the paddock has to be shared with many other broadcasters + FOM cameras so even if the cameras and production suite can handle 4K they may not be able to utilise it even if they wanted to.

F1 has been available in 4K for a while on Sky and other broadcasters around the world, however as C4 isn't the main UK rights holder they may not be allowed to broadcast in 4K as part of the deal with Sky.
