I had a problem with a customer where they were losing signal on BBC & ITV in the early afternoon on a 3.1M dish.
Signal levels were looking good and after messing about changing boxes aligning dishes etc the customer was talking about how suddenly the signal goes especially when there is a big game or event. The time seems to differ every week.
They are on 3 phase supply and I was even trying different power supply to the box. I have had problems in the same area with Air Conditioning being switched on.
On further examination I found that it was not only 2d but the transponders on Eurobird and 2c as well. All other channels were ok. The box would reboot & lock ok. Sky sports, Ch4 all fine.
I must admit I was pretty stumped until I unplugged the projector connected to the Sky box Scart output and the picture cleared on all 2d & Eurobird channels.
Turns out there was up to 75Vac difference between the screening of the Projector output and earth. When I connected the screening to earth the problem dissapeared.

Just thought I would write this to others as it was a wierd fault as only affected the lower signal levels.
Funny that it only affected 2D, 2C and Eurobird. If the voltage was lower then would it only affect 2D?? Who knows but gonna disconnect stuff like projectors in the future.

Well sussed mate.I had a similar problem a long time ago with a Grundig digibox and a dvd player with a scart connected to the video scart socket on the back of the digibox.
What make /model digibox was it?

It was a Pace DSN430.
Not sure of Projector model as Ceiling mounted and didn´t go up to it.

Cheers
