Equipment:- 1 metre dish (yes I know it should be bigger, but it was free:D) & Comag portyII receiver.

Whilst seeking some light relief from trying to get my new dish motor to behave'O'-red , I thought I would have a crack at 2D (minus motor of course)....& miracle.. I found it!
Problem is I can get ITV 1 on (I think) all regions clearly (& reliably all evening), but BBC (TV or Radio) not a thing, just the odd painful digital squawk.
Why the big difference please:confused:
Signal quality is 60% on both. (& 96% on most broader beam channels). I have fine tuned (with meter) & skewed.

PS Yes OK I will buy a bigger dish if I know it will help....but therapy will be needed........ I cant compute 150 Euros for a tin pressing & bracket!
 
Start saving up!.1.3 minimum is required round the Faro region for all of 2D.:)
 
might as well go for something big like a 1.5metre or andrews 1.8m that should deffo bring the channels in

also check out http://www.astra2d.com/portugal.htm for reception reports , see if any are near you
 
thxs guys :-) ................ what really confused me was no radio 4 which I thought (with rad2) was on the wider beam ........... then i fund it elsewhere, which begs the Q why ave it on the narrow beam also????!

Yeah, Ok i might shell out, but then I think about all the good stuff on astra1 ..... &no cricket anymore...............outrageous

A giant dish, hmm............... I see Maplins are doing one for £99 ....... cost a bit to post it thoo'.:D
 
Watch out the Maplin dish for £99 will be a FortecStar- avoid.

May i just return to the subject again, as I had the impression that BBC tv was easier to receive than ITV? -- My neighbour with a 1.2 m dish says the same. BBC fine all the time, but ITV not so........... & this is why i hesitated about buying a bigger dish (apart from being a tight s.o.d), I receive ITV well, most regions, but BBC 1&2 just squawk with no picture......:mad:.....& shouldn't I be receiving Skynews also?................I do on Astra1

Oh well, we dont mind TV Gusto & the Travel Programme on Astra1....& all with my tiny suitcase dish

Its "squawking" because its just on the threshhold of coming in!.Cant understand why you cant get Sky news though,unless your box hasnt got the parameters pre-set in it.Try adding 12207V 2/3 27500 manually.Good luck.:)
