A couple of evenings ago, I started losing 2D slightly(pixling on screen), in heavy rain. I decided to get wet and do some tests outside! There is a transparent plastic cover (on the front of the feedhorn) facing the dish and I think its some kind of protector for the feedhorn. Anyway, I wiped this down with a dry cloth, and reception came back again! I suppose this ground water on this cover is distorting the signal before the LNB.
Does anyone have any tips or tricks on how to perminantly keep the Feedhorn and LNB dry during wet weather? I thought of trying to put some wax on it so the ground water can easily run off... Your advice and tips would be appreciated.
(Since the bad storm down here the other week, I have used a sat beeper to re-align the dish. This means I probably do not have its optimum position. I therefore need a sat meter to get some accurate readings anyway.)

There was a chap, on another board, who slid a 1litre plastic lemonade bottle over the whole lnb to keep rain/ice/snow away from the immediate vicinity. Another used car polish on the dish face and lnb front, so that any water slid off.

Rain will attenuate the signal and a film of water on the lnb face will also have an attenuating effect and cut down the signal level.

WD40 sprayed onto the front of the lnb face is supposed to stop water building up, but I do not know if it would affect the plastic.

A good squirt of WD40 / GT85 on the dish face & front cover of th LNB will work wonders, and help any snow slide off the dish more easily.

Could you not cover it with the device above?

For anyone who doesn't know what a flange LNB looks like here's one.

Clearwiev works with the CM feedhorn on a 120 flange as well.

A little more work to fit but not bad at all.
