@ John:

Prodelin makes big fiberglass dishes.

PFA 3.0, 3.4 and 3.7m dishes in 8 pieces
_http://www.gdsatcom.com/vsat/datasheets/1000-001.pdf

The 3.7m model costs around $3,800.

Offset 3.8m dish in 4 pieces
_http://www.gdsatcom.com/vsat/datasheets/1000-017.pdf

The 3.8m offset costs around $12,000.

Prodelin also has a 4.5m PFA in fiberglass ($4,500).

You may contact their German office, which carries some of them in stock
_vsateurope@gdsatcom.com

Comtech has a 3.8m dish PFA in fiberglass; 3 pieces; $4,700.
_http://catalog.vincor.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=COM-38M

Comtech also has a 5m PFA dish in fiberglass.

Alternatively to fiberglass, there are dishes in aluminum in one piece:

Aerial Oy from Finland:
_http://www.aerial.fi/ep/tiedostot/Satellite_communication_antennas.pdf

Dishes available in 3.0m, 4.2m and 5.4m.

I own a 2.4m from Aerial (bought new at the factory); they are superb dishes; the 5.4m costs around 9,500€ if memory serves me right.

Aerial can paint your dish in any REL color of your choice. Nice. Wifey will be happy.

Elite Antennas from UK:
_http://www.elite-antennas.com/

They bought some parts from the bankruptcy of Precision Antennas and started this company. I am not sure of the quality.

DH Antennas from USA:
_http://www.dhsatellite.com/

True Focus from USA:
_http://www.anderseninc.com/satellite/

I am sure there might be some other ones. Please do add.

The choice is large.

I would look for a dish from a reputable firm, who hopefully will be there in the future (for parts, etc.). Yeah, many went bust.

Fiberglass dishes are sure nice, but I don't know of any over 3.0m in one piece, which is a pain and has an impact on performance.

Aluminium dishes on the other hand can be bought in one piece, which is very nice. Downside of alu: sensitive to bumps (be careful with transportation).

Also availability and cost of shipping are very important factors when buying.

Good luck on your next project!

I noticed that this firm recently started stocking these :

_http://www.satellitesuperstore.com/dishes-motors2.htm#3mmotorised

It may not suit your needs as it's ally, not fibre.

Laminas only make dishes in fibre but just go up to 2.7M. However, here's a link _http://www.2galli.fr/boutique/fiche_produit.cfm?ref=AS2700&type=30&code_lg=lg_fr&num=21

Why fibreglass ? How about a Famaval 2.4m aluminium with the 8 extension panels which makes it a 3.1m. F|or us here they are cheaper than the DH one piece 3m and easier to transport.

A fiberglass dish at that size with a motor and polar mount may be a bit too heavy for your old mounting pole that you used for the 2.4 meter dish, you may need to replace that also, check with the manufacture of the one you choose to see what is recommended for that dish.

Are you looking at more than just receive only, as £8k is a lot of money to throw at a TVRO

As per the other posters, why fibreglass ?

Anyhow I would leave Prodelin alone as their polarmount has limited travel and the whole assembly is awkward to set up to the claimed performance.

If you are persuaded to look at metalwork then Elite is the new supplier of the Precision antenna designs, which are tried and trusted.

I have been in contact lately with Elite and cannot say that I am impressed. Hence my doubts about the quality.

On the other side, my contact with Aerial Oy in Finland have been more than excellent. Their engineers respond to mails within a couple hours and I always received all technical answers to my many questions and many mails. So service at Aerial Oy is great.

I cannot say the same with Elite. Sorry.

Mind sharing that £8k if you have anything left? I only need £150 to get help with my issues :D

Out if interest, what is your aim with a 3m dish? :)

Many thanks for the replies the reason why i want a fibreglass dish,is that i have always bought dishes which are fibreglass.I am not that keen on aluminium or steel, because some people they rust as fibreglass does not.I suppose i don`t have an aim with a 3.0m+ dish getting channels wise, because my former cm 2.4m dish got me everything i wanted ku,ka,and c-band channels.Any ideas if channel master do dishes over 3.0m+ .?

Channel Master used to do a PFA 3.0m in 4 pieces. Discontinued at the end of the 90's.

BTW, alu does NOT rust.

Also, FYI, every very big dish at Teleports and Headends of Cable networks are in alu. These pro guys cannot get it wrong.

At least it won't rust... and you can pack it and bring it to your holiday resort... and enjoy DX'ing on a break!!!

Size is limited to 2.4m though.

Part of the budget should go on a decent signal meter, it will help when aligning the monster.
