3.1°E Eutelsat 3B & Rascom QAF 1R

Hello,

what dishdiameter? I could setup 1,5 Meters offset for me!

Thx

2.0 metre Precision Antennas prime focus dish, single piece, spun aluminium.
Fitted with Titanium C2PLL twin probe LNBF inserted into a polo pipe, no dielectric plate in use

The dish size is dependent on your location with respect to the beam footprint.
I am in the UK and currently have about 1dB margin above the level required for a signal lock. This particular frequency seems to get stronger in late afternoon and early to mid evening.

Note: The satellite uses circular polarity, if you try with your 1.5m dish you will need some capability to cope with the circular polarity.

Looking at the Global Cband footprint for a rough estimate of coverage and i think you will be struggling a bit.
On my 2.2 PF , 17K north of Nottingham i can recieve it but it's only just.

There's four to choose from on this frequency - 15 & 16 are BISS2

Can you put fullTS somewhere?

I get a lot of fluctuating signal, I presume from 5g interference, what is needed to counteract this?

You could try either an external 5G waveguide filter or an LNB(F) with some type of 5G filter built in to it.

The other point to consider is the receiver. I had some slight freezing using a Dr HD F15 receiver even though the signal level was above the lock level.
When I switched over to an RX8200 receiver the picture was smooth and flawless. There might be some transport stream factors that prevent older consumer grade receivers rendering smooth video?

I would try one or two alternative receivers first and if no better consider buying some type of 5G filtering hardware.

The signal level at the moment on the Globecast feeds for a Southern UK location is reasonable, I am getting a steady 7.8dB from a 2.0m Precision Antennas prime focus dish located in Surrey.
This was a "quick dish up job" without adjustment of the feed distance from the dish, I just lashed it on at 5mm inside the focal length of the dish and optimised the scalar position.
It needs 6.6dB for a lock.

Is this on your 1.8 or 2.4 ? .... remind us again what your using for the feed set up / polorisation method etc. I'm just up country a bit from you in North Notts near Mansfield and it's only just holding lock with not too much margin

it is on my 2.4 using titanium, it is on all transponders so dont think lack of signal is to blame

Just below lock for me on the 1.8CM..20221125_215225.jpg

@moonbase, do you think it is 5g interference?

Without seeing the impact on a spectrum analyser it is difficult to say.
I think @John posted a good video on the forum showing the impact of 5G on a C-Band spectrum a month or two ago. You can see the spectrum signals rising and falling with the 5G interference in the video.

Some of the Titanium LNBF's are without filters, others have filters.
The Titanium LNBF with the 5G filter has a lower frequency cut off point at 3.8GHz so I assume you are not using that one as the Globecast frequencies are below the LNBF cut off threshold.

If you are getting similar artefacts on all frequencies from 3.1E in C-Band then you got nowt to lose except small wad by buying some anti 5G kit.
I think there is a search available on the internet for 5G towers in neighbourhoods? If you can find the link and have a sniff it might tell you if there is one close by and its direction with respect to your dish?

Something "interesting" in HEVC on 4.097 RH, SR 34254.
The stream is actually "Continous ACM" but PMT and PIDs can be processed normally. I tried it with the MPC-BE player, the sound can clearly be heard the video however not smooth enough to determine the content.
