31E Avanti mux

Last night total black screen, no signal, just checked and back to 10.5db.

Does Ka suffer with rain fade?

The signal levels on that set of transponders on that sat are quite strong. Usually with me, any moisture, dew etc. on the LNB cover reduces the signal considerably, even if it isn't raining. Often I make the covers removable to increase the signal on a fine or cloudy day. With this and several other of the stronger sats, light rain or cloud cover isn't too much of a problem if I keep the LNB cover protected with a shield of some sort.

I guess that could have done it. I will keep this in mind. Thanks for your response.

Here's my quick lash-up for this sat. Don't have a working Saorsat LNB - that's its feedhorn on this Hughes assembly ;)

Might finally get around to hunting the Avanti Ka signals down myself tonight ..
So are they linear or circular Llew ?
which of my lnbs would be best to point at 31E
The circular port of the SL3 ..or the linear port ?
OR the Hughes ...
Or the inverto..?
Choices ..Choices...
Are the Ka signals still there ..or am I too late to the party.
???

They're linear VS. H/L I think. Always guesswork with my Hughes. Haven't tried an SL3 yet.

Been on there at least a month, Martin found them back end of November.

Cheers Buddy ..
will take a look later ..
I know it's been around a bit now ..but been out of commission myself ..but feeling well enough atm to do a bit of DXing.

So ..I'm getting the Avanti mux using the Hughes in H mode ...but not at the frequency you showed in an earlier post Llew ??

I'm using LO 18750
..which is prolly wrong ..
I've forgotton what it should be ..and dont want to go outside in the rain and dark to check the Hughes..physically.

Busy creating a new sat position on the F15 and scanning them in using 18750 LO and blindscan..

Blindscan on the F15 has found a duplicate of A1A2 A1HD A2HD ..both in H and V polarity so far ...
I'm letting the scan complete in both polarities to prove either Circular or Linear..
If they dont appear again in V ..then definately Linear.

So ...both times 1 mux found at the same frequency ...but once in H and once in V ...
Suggesting the signal is indeed circular ...not linear.
No video playing on any channels ...all static images.

I think I was using 18750, but in any case, my TP frequency might be out anyway, as I have a variable LO (modded with screw), and I need to check it again against the known Saorsat 9E frequencies tomorrow.

I'm using the unmodded port on the SL3

What was the L.O. freq please?

I use 20250 Chris. The receiver doesn't give the correct downlink frequency, but I'm just happy to get Ka

I will have another play around with the fixings. And see if I can get any life out of it.

Thanks for your answer. :-)
