36 Volt 4 Core Motor Cable (2 Cores For Current, 2 Cores For Pulse) - Source ?

Hi,

Would anybody please know if it is still possible to buy 36 volt 4 core dish motor cable which has two thin cores for the pulse signal and two thicker cores for the current?

I think that there might be a sheilding braid around it all or individual shielding on each of the 4 cores but I would need to pull out the TV unit and boxes to get to the back of the positioner to check about the shielding.

I have searched around quite a bit for some of this without any luck. The cable I am using at the moment was originally part of a flat ribbon style cable that was used on motorised dishes back in the "analogue only" days when 36 volt positioners were dominant. The flat ribbon cable used to comprise one section for the LNB, one section for the polariser and one section for the positioner. It is the 36 volt positioner cable that I am looking for.

The flat ribbon style cable should still be fine. Alot of the older cable is certainly better stuff than what they sell now. I once [recently] was sold telecom cable to be used for a 36v motor; not advised :eek:

Some use 4 core flex, some heavy duty cctv cable.

Is the flat ribbon style cable still available, I have not seen any for sale for quite a while? I need a longer run of the cable than I currently have hence my wishing to find a supplier.

Would you know if the other options of 4 core flex or heavy duty cctv cable are just as good as the old style positioner cable or are they lacking anything such as shielding etc?

I used 4 core mains power cable worked a treat

Don't think it is manufactured anymore. You may possibly find a supplier with old stock supplies. I would say shielding is generally important but not essential if it's a separate power cable from the coaxial feed.

Saw cat5e cable doubled up on the last install I looked at.

When I did mine I couldn't get any 4 core cable locally so I just ran 2 cables. 0.75mm for the sensor and 1.5mm for the motor. There's no shielding and it runs alongside a bunch of other cables, including co-ax, Cat5e, telephone, ADSL, and mains, but it doesn't ever seem to lose count.

Yes, just stumbled across above cable in CPC.

Conductor: 1.5mm
O/D: 11.2mm
Sheath thickness: 0.8mm
Current rating: 15A

I have a separate cable for the LNB coaxial feeds, however, for about 6 metres inside the house the motor cable and the coaxial signal cable are in close proximity to each other in some narrow conduit that runs along a skirting board. At the moment I am using the original motor cable from the old style ribbon cable which is shielded. If I use H07RN-F cable which seems to be unshielded is there a possibility of interference to the pulse count?

Thank you for all the replies with your solutions, the H07RN-F looks promising subject to no interference to the pulse count.
