36E Express AMU1 / Eutelsat 36C

One for @John to try again

I'm seeing quite a few signals that i could not previously see , only looking on a Linear feed at the moment but this RHC sig shown for example is strong with me
2.2m PF 17k north of Nottingham UK.

Nice - it's a shame that I have a huge tree around 36E... :(

Iv'e had to wind down and secure the 2.2m just now CJ as we have 48MPh wind gusts blowing, iv'e got the Circ pol feed out to strap onto the changer and do another look at the Circ pol signals when it's safe to get it up again so to speak.

With 1.2 m and linear LNB, getting 6.7 dB at best on 11900, so lacking 1.2 dB.
Have you tried 12380 L or 12456 L? They should require only 4.0 dB.
Or 12174 L, 12226 L, 12265 L, 12341 L (5.5 dB )? Those are DVB-S signals.

I tried yesterday and no luck so far, but bad weather and not yet tried a circulair LNB.

This BBC stream, at 36.0E, on 11520 H,10832, stream Continuous, is the same as the one at 15.0W on 12596 V,45000, but this time the Skyscraper8 app decodes it better.
As there, at this position, the provider also changes, now it's BBC, after a while, it is Channel 4 or ITV.

Decent result on these Circular sigs shown for my location 17k North of Nottingham UK for a mid afternoon scan from the 2.2m PF
I tried a cheap circular lnbf but got better results from inserting a 2.2mm thick x 36mm long teflon slab into this spare cheap Chinese lnbf that was begging to be tried.

in my area the African spot covers the Russian one so I have no reception even using an inverted LNB for circulars

In Romania, a littile bit upper from Bucharest I can receive it with low signal but with a normal LNB on a 1m dish. With T90 pointing 26°E, and a home-made circular LNB, I receive from 36°E all russian frequencies. Before was nothing even with 1m dish and circular LNB.

Late evening time for me here in Central UK gives a good 1dB increase in levels, see pic, - also just for fun i've captured what the difference between using a Linear feed as opposed to the correct Circular feed looks like.... The Circular plot looking nice and clean with no Circular cross pol showing - not so with the Linear feed plot. ** RHC signals only shown on the Promax grab

Very cool, John! I think I'd have a weaker signal down sarf overall anyway and the smaller dish would mean that I probably wouldn't lock it, even with the circular lnb. But that's moot anyway due to the neighbour's tree

I had no luck so far.
Some frequencies that are mentioned here (f.e. 11786, 11901, 11939) are listed on Lyngsat under Eutelsat 36D. So, is the Russia beam of 36D improved or the Fixed 1 beam of AMU1 or both?

Which frequency is best to try first with lineair LNB? And when switching from Eutelsat 36D(35.9°E) to Express AMU1 (36.1°E) better to move the dish (1.8m) slightly to the East?

A few days ago I received Al-Sirat TV on 12692H, but not anymore now. Can anyone confirm the signal is still there?

Checked just now at 9.30am UK time, 17k North of Nottingham UK , 2.2m PF - nothing seen at 12.692 H - - the signal next to it is 12.695 H, 4794, 3/5, ACM.
Will try later in the afternoon.

Hi, 36D is the one improved.

36c had gone after war since 2023 from here, i checked now and signals are very strong for northern Türkiye, the former footprint has returned I think.

Test with a Linear LNB (IBU), H pol., 6909x card using the neumoDVB app on Russian muxes on Express-AMU1 at 36.0°E

These spectrum scans present nicely how only Eutelsat 36D provides nice strong signals in central Europe while Express AMU1 is almost "0".

LH2.webp RH2.webp

The main transponder catching the eye in this scan is 11.747 RH which is on AMU1.

The 11746 R works very well for me without a dielectric.

Good weather, clear skies, so I had a go with two circulair LNB's.
LOF 10.75 and if I setup the threshold frequency 11600 between low and high band, I can just receive Rûdaw on 11678 to confirm reception, fine-position the LNB and make sure the LNB settings are right.
Diffence between the two LNB's was 12 and 10.5 dB signal in Rûdaw, but zero signal in any other frequency.
I guess it will nog work overhere...

I think the signal of Express AMU1 at 36°E has become weaker than before. Can someone check and confirm what is happening with the satellite?
