I'm looking at changing my 1m Gibertini to a 1.2m version and I'm going to change the motor at the same time. One thing I can't do is install a polar mount as my ever patient neighbour wouldn't appreciate seeing the jack arm and extra metalwork from his window so I need to keep it low profile(ish). Is there anything currently available similar to the old Jaeger 1224? If not I'll have to replace it with another diseqc jobbie and accept the fact I'll be realigning it every so often, so I wonder what the pick of the bunch is, are metal gears any better than nylon?

I think there's a moteck HH motor that will handle up to 1.8m

Careful with interpreting "up to" .................... it depends upon the weight of the dish too.

It has been done with a DiSEqC motor but would advise getting the polar mount and jack as it will certainly last longer. If you only need part of the arc, a small 12 inch should suffice.

Thanks Djskutz, that looks like the kind of thing I'm on about, I'll go and check out some reviews.
