Viasat reception is patchy. I can just lock the extra PL's on a TD78 here. But about 10 miles away in Chorley it's just about doable on a Penta 58. TBH I would recommend a TD88 and Inverto Black Ultra for trouble free viewing.

I,m using this exact set up in mid cheshire, and on the PL channels I'm currently showing S78 Q68.

2mb sometimes works broadband but most of the time is faulty
1.2metre dish with technomate 6800 sitting in shed will go up a some point

For reliability i would go for a 1 meter. I look after 30 pubs on Merseyside/ Warrington area looking at viasat on a 1 meter motor dish (SD channels) with channels viewable in most weather conditions

It's a clear evening now but signal hasn't changed from what it was earlier. Not raining though. Plenty of margin for rain fade on this channel.

Wow that's frustrating! I'll just need to tweak things really. Put the Ultra LNB up.

Fringe reception and using a DM500. You couldn't have a worse box. Like you said, you actually got some kind of picture on the DM800.

This morning was much worse.. persistent rain means only 38% SNR on Hockey and TV1000 Family was locked on 36%. So, still watchable but on the edge. Does that make you feel better? :D

As a general rule, on my Uno, 30% is a lockable signal but breaking up, 34% is stable with only occasional breaks.

I probably would but I still need to gather the missing parts for the polar mount and then buy the VBox, Jack arm, cable it, align it etc... Watch the other thread for progress :)

With an official subscription, of course :D (we don't discuss "other means" here)

Not familiar with TM-5402HD, so not sure if it can take various cards in its slot....

That makes me feel brilliant :D

The DM500 is weak to say the least. Hopefully when I get my Duo, I'll be able to lock on in rain too.

No break up?

Any thoughts on the coax cable? To what extent would decent coax help? Water in LNB, another possible issue?

Yeah, 30%+ on VU+ is fine. Have you tried bypassing the motor and just using the cable wired straight to the LNB? May give you a few extra % but then again I think you've got shotgun cable which probably isn't very good for fringe

You mean you know? :p

Doesn't change a thing, as the shotgun cable is poor. I'll try using the motor wire itself in the DM800.
