I think its possible to watch a 422 stream from you dreambox on you pc. It may be my booze soaked brain but I definiately remember reading a tutorial on one of the boards. If I remember I'll let you know.

Wow - interesting... I'll be amazed but pleasantly surprised if it works. Doesn't bother me really though as I have an SS2.

Sure one of the other dreamers will give it a go though :)

I believe that the DB hardware is also capable of HDTV, but firmware prevents it's use.

Nice find nezbit - especially if it works!

4:2:2 is the mpeg subsystem that is used by comercial concerns for uplinking live feeds from OB events such as live football etc.

You can grab the corresponding downlink if you're quick and know where to look. It's unencrypted too :)

I will try it out, can anyone tell me if there is a station that constantly transmits in 422 so I can check it?

One of the IRIB's on 13E is marked 'encrypted feed' try that one if it's still there.

I got sound but no picture on the SS2 on a 422 station. Do I need to change anything in settings??

Also, tried the vlc method but other than once for a few seconds can't get it to work properly

No - Its like AM and FM radio, both radio and both not encrypted but transmitted slightly differently. (don't know if there is a better analogy)

L.

T_G what and where are you watching, I'll check that there is sound. :)

Yep there is boxing on there with German commentary as i'm sure you can hear. I'm running the SS1 in soft mode so it behaves like an SS2 with software decode, and all is fine,
