These STB work with 4:2:2

Only reason this STB can do it is because it's a HD STB and has more decoding power even know the main chip only supports MP@HL. However the internal handling of video is all done in 4:2:2 format and because of that the chip also successfully decodes 4:2:2.

Another STB would need to support HP@ML or HP@HL

They may indeed have given up on it due to processor power but all I can say is that early images did go some way to showing a picture.
