The Octagon sf4008 and the Gigablue quad 4k and UE 4k spring to mind.

Octagon are bringing out a successor to the sf4008, the sf5008, was supposed to be out at the end of April, but now saying June....... but could be even later, as they have not released any details as yet, despite promising they were imminent...... a month ago :rolleyes:
 
Is the S2X tuner something that should be purchased now or does it make much difference?

I paid to upgrade mine at the start. I also ordered the hdd separately and fitted it. That only saved me about a fiver so imho get wos to fit it.

Add a spare remote to your order, I paid a tenner for a spare as I can see me braking the remote.

Plus the lettering on the keys are starting to rub off.
It’s the best box I have ever got myself.
 
Is there an alternative remote for this device as I think I read elsewhere that the provided remote is a bit delicate.

It's not "delicate" but if your a clumsy person and a laminate floor is in the equation also then I don't know, but the remote keys have not been resin stamped so the letters and numbers start to fade after a month or so because of the natural properties in human hands. The alternatives would be to wear nitrate gloves for the rest of your puff lol
 
I'm really happy with my HD51, only if blindscan was released for the Silabs tuner....

Only a few channels in S2X so I have not botherd with this as for UHD 4K receivers the Amiko A4K combo takes a lot of beating @ under £100 with an Active Blind Scan :)

I went for the Gigablue UHD Quad 4k. Have an SX2 tuner on order as part of BD present. I like the Quad 4k, good, well made solid receiver. I fitted a 3tb HDD and it works a treat. There are some good deals going besides Wos and fitting your own hdd gives you a choice of make etc.

I ordered mine from SatKing Germany, unable to find any in the UK and its been dispatched.
 
Oh right, I noticed WOS had some a while back, but appear to be out of stock now.

Thanks, but that is a bit out of my price range.
Was hoping for some alternatives cheaper than the Mutant.

I am using a 1 terabyte hard drive with the A4K as I can continue watching live tv on my other equipment :)
 
I have a 1tb drive in my Mutant for pvr use.

I have it connected to plex as one of my network tuners along with my vu duo 1tb
