So ..I've done a bit each morning ..trying to connect everything up ..
I'm attaching a diagram of what is done so far ..
My surround sound amp is an oldie but goodie and doesn't have video input switching ..so no hdmi here ..
though this might be replaced with something more modern ..eventually.
You might notice I have one hdmi input spare on one of the switches ..
I'd like to connect this to VCR corner which is over the other side of the room ..
This corner boasts a very expensive EX BBC Panasonic NV-HS950 which is coupled to a Panasonic DMREX771 PVR which does have HDMI ..whereas the VCR obviously doesn't..
I use this setup for Tape to disc or avi conversions for myself or customers.
But it is about 5 mtrs away ..cable wise ..
Is it practical to connect hdmi over a 5 - 6 mtre cable ?
They do sell 6m hdmi cables in both standard ..and flat forms..
I'm thinking a 6m flat might well be useful for under the carpet ?
Anyone used flat cables ?
There is also the ARC hdmi input still unused on the new TV ...but I'm leaving this unused for now ..but will likely end up sporting an AV surround sound amp at some point.
