As my v box does not have a 5 volt sensor connection, can I connect an alternitive 6 volt supply to the motor, or is 6 volt to heavy, I did try it on the bench for a second and it did worked ok, but I am not sure what it would like long term.

A more elegant solution would be to find a +5V source in your v-box and take it out to a terminal fixed somewhere on the case.

No satellite gear here, but at my parents' house there is:
Konig 35cm camping dish (horrible, too small)
80cm Silvercrest (lidl)on 13E and 19.2E and a Technomate 5300D+ USB Super.

Or if you don't want to open your VBox, an LM7805 would help (5v regulator IC)

Not having one, and no schematics appear to exist, I can't point to a particular spot.

Nevertheless, a visual check might find a +5V regulator (LM7805 or similarly marked component). Or a check with a voltmeter for a +5V supply line.

If no luck, you will probably have to tap into a higher voltage point (possibly a 12V line) and add a +5V regulator yourself.

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

There is a 5v rail in all Vbox machines, and it is derived from a generic three pin regulator

There you go then. Thanks CH.

Adding a current limiting resistor (68 ohms should be OK) in series with the line taken out will prevent any short-circuits etc. on the line causing problems in the v-box
