Hi, you seem to be a bit lost, this is the portuguese section. Let me get to the right one.
Anyway, the 5620 is better piece of kit than the 500S, better looking too.

As professor is saying, I would prefer the 5620S purely because of the CAM slot (But the 500S is newer and according to previous threads has better tuner sensitivity and does not have network problems as some of the 5620S).

Anybody would like to swap a working 5620S for a working 500S :)

Would like to try a 5620. It is quite hard to come across one these days.

Am located in Belfast

Cheers

It is very hard to give an opinion as I never had anything else but a 5620. But can say that it is working very well. I use it to record onto an external USB HD without problems (other then the odd pixel disturbance), but this has probably more to do with my 5 year old PC and a 10m long and cheap lan cable...

All in all a great toy

Interesting thread this one, because I was just venturing in to the dreambox section to ask the same question, I always remember way back in the day when I was reasonably active on this forum everyone was saying about the 5620, so as I have read above it appears that the only advantage to it is the CI Slot.

So.. My few questions are:

1) On the 500 how compatible is the card slot with official cards?

2) Is it worth waiting a little while longer since I have read in some places that dreambox are bringing out a new version of the 500 with hard drive support (I will try and find a reference site for this).

3) Also when are we likely to see a dreambox with HD and MPG4 support (if not soon then I wouldnt wait for it).

Thanks

Err it's a not so easy question to answer. I been reading a bit about dreamboxes and would love to have one, it opens up a whole new world of possibilities. I would wait a few months say 2 or 3 at most and get the new one.

As for me, I settled for a new version of 7020S and sold my 500S - did not want to beta test the 7025S and 8000S.

See this link for the network problem fix for 5620S (IF you have network problem similar to the old versin of 7020S)

I never had any problems with the 5620s I regulary update. They run the exact same way as my 7000s. Everything thats on my 7000 in on the 5620 except for the different versions of Gemini. Settings,Bouquets etc And minus the hard drive and multiboot.

Just to mention that the DM5620 multiboots very well with nfs. It takes me 1 min to install an image in the pc and 2 sec to boot from pc. I can also choose image to boot from the boot menu in the box. Set up as follows:-

Flashwizard pro 5.0
Flashimage - latest Pli
pc - xp pro, 2.8GHz, 1024mB RAM, SFU installed

Regards, pcd.
