Pride, do you have a picture of this plate? I am still using the one you sent me with great results.

hi CJ as soon as it stops raining I will take the plate out and post picture

hi CJ here is a picture of the plateP5060052.webp

Interesting! Will try to make one like it. Did you just use super glue? Also, do you have the measurements of gaps etc.?

hi CJ all the parts were superglued on,the outside pins are 6.5mm,7.5mm,10mm,11.5mm,11.5mm,11.5mm then 10mm,7.5mm,6.5mm,starting from bottom the main oblong shapes are 22mm*10mm,next one is 25mm*12mm then the top one is 20mm*10mm the gaps on the outside pins are 6mm between hope that helps.

Does this really work? I might try modding a plate for my C Band on my 1.2, to see if it improves anything.

Finally got round to including a position on the Vbox for SES 5 @5E ..
and tried a blind scan on the F15..
Nothing found ..
However inputting a few transpoder details manually ..I did manage to log a few channels ..
Including Rave TV at a very respectable 13db ..
The only time I have had similar issues was back when a few channels were available to me on 17E ..
Conclusion ..
SES5 the new Amos 5 ..
This bird behaves much the same way ...an oddity to be sure.
So far I have RaveTV R2TV and the SES SD Demo.
Lyngsat list is out of date ...and possibly Flysat ..
I guess my only real option for scanning and discovering new channels is with the TBS card ..then once discovered inputting the details in the F15 manually.
Chances are the low SRs and or odd fec(s) are the reason.
Any chance of a complete and current up-to- date list of TV channels with channel datas SR's etc

Got some questions for you Pride..
re the recent plate.
Obviously you now have more elements than the original DOS plate ..
Do you find there is significant improvement now ?
The original plate used solid rectangles rather than loops ..
again ..are there significant advantages ?
I am currently making a hybrid using o.5mm thick elements cut from copper sheet ..
I have more to make yet ..
the photo shows what I've made so far ..but this is difficult work for old eyes and hands that don't function properly ..so want to be sure its worth the effort.
Finally ..again You are now using copper wire rather than flat leaf elements ..
How do they compare ?

Oh ..forgot a question ..
The spacing between the elements and centre elements ..
Are the spaces on the outer elements equidistant and if so what are they ?
similar question applies to the centre rectangles.

Well ..
completed the plate but didn't see any significant improvement ...so chances are I made it wrong ..or innacuracies due to my degraded eyesight.
I will have another go with 1mm copper wire ..at some point ..
lost skin from my finger ends ..
I hate superglue,,,lol
Gone back to the original plate for now ..kindly supplied by Pride some while back..
Yep it still performs as well as ever ..
Not sure yet if your new design will perform better ..only time will tell.
My eyes are so poor these days that reading a ruler is an issue.
Don't get old guys ..you wont like it.
;)

hi VS the latest plate works very well against the copper foil though the copper foil is very good but the 1mm copper wire I am using at the moment I found it works very well I tested both through the arc I found on some channels that the copper wire plate brought in channels and the copper tape showed a flicker, the only thing I changed on the one I am using is the top middle element which is 22mm by 10mm,the bottom middle element is 3mm from bottom of plate the other two elements are 1mm gap apart, the outside elements are 6mm between each element,i see you are experimenting with copper plate I did try that VS but was not good as the copper foil,i hope you have better luck than me

Thanks for the update Pride ..
I guess I could do with a large printed version of your plate with dimensions actually written on it ..
I'll get round to this in time ..
I just cant focus on tiny detail any more..
damned eyes..
btw ..have you tried or even considered etching the design on copper clad board ..
Sadly they dont make copper clad perspex ..but they do make copper clad fibre glass ..
maybe this would work ?

hi VS yes I did consider the idea of etching out a plate but by the time I would have brought the etching kit and glass fibre board it was cheaper to obtain a blank cd case and copper foil then there was not any guarantee it would work,if you find making a new plate too much for the fingers VS I will make one for you I know what its like getting old with ailments.

Oh yes please Pride ..
If you wouldn't mind making me a copy of your latestest version to test ..Id very much appreciate it.
As you rightly say ..ageing eyes and poorly hands make the job much much harder.
