I'm considering buying a 6800 HD Super to replace my Passion HD. I've got some questions and would appreciate members input.

1. How stable is the official firmware, any reboots / hangs ?
2. How reliable is the motor control and which is better Diseqc or USALS ?
3. How accurate is the blind scan and does it handle DVB-S2 ?
4. What is the actual symbol rate range, I've seen 1-45Mbps and 2-45Mbps quoted for DVB-S ?
5. What's the best price for this model, cheapest I've seen is £199.00 on eBay ?

I have the non super model and it is fine, with no hangups at all.

USALS and Diseqc 1.2 work perfectly on it, I've not come accross any of the standard Technomate receivers that don't do USALS faultlessly. I have tried pretty much every other Technomate model, inc the 7100,6900 super,6800,5200,5400 1500, 1000, 3200,3100, and all consistent.

Reception wise, there is no difference between Diseqc 1.2 and USALS, as minor adjustment can still be made in USALS if needed. But USALS is far far more quicker and easier to setup. So in my opinion USALS is better.

i think,the clark tech ,5100 that sale outside uk is the same modell,then the technomate,on this receiver there is only one problem,i recogneized,on some channels espasaly on türksat and in cband on nss 806 ,it have some strange audio codec problems,the channel,on turksat the are many comes withouth sound,that works very well on other receivers!
i never find out,what is exattly the codec problem itself ,on the "normal" satellites like astra,and hotbrid all sound channel okay,only some exotic ones,that maybe proberbly,did not hold all 100% ruelz of the layer audiocodec!

This is a very old story - and its fixed thince month!

Thanks for the replies, I think I'll go ahead and order one. I'm fed up with the Passion's odd behaviour and runaway motor control.
 
I got the non super model and I have noticed the picture slightly shaking up and down when first switched on but it stabilises after a while.
 
This receiver is a mature product. The only instability is in the new feature: the spectrum analyzer, which does crash still. Still, it is a unique feature which I use a lot in hunting out new signals and would miss it if it wasn't there. The Spiderbox is also getting good reviews with a slightly better blind search and extended signal information and would certainly be my second choice. It handles very low SRs but blind search can miss them so manual input is necessary.

I decided to go ahead and get a 6800 HD Super and I have to say it was a good decision. Now that I've had it a few weeks I can answer my own original questions.

1. How stable is the official firmware, any reboots / hangs ? A - Not had a single issue with reliability, does everything it's supposed to without a fuss.
2. How reliable is the motor control and which is better Diseqc or USALS ? A - Both perform very well but I prefer USALS for fine tuning.
3. How accurate is the blind scan and does it handle DVB-S2 ? A - As per AndyX's observation it can sometimes miss low SRs but for everything else it's fine (including DVB-S2).
4. What is the actual symbol rate range, I've seen 1-45Mbps and 2-45Mbps quoted for DVB-S ? A - The manual quotes 2-45 but I can effortlessly pull in Padre Pio @ 12.5W which has a SR of 1300.
5. What's the best price for this model, cheapest I've seen is £199.00 on Ebay ? A - Got it from an Ebay shop with 100% rating for £199
