Hi,

Is it possible to receive a signal from 76.5E from the UK? I think that some of the top dxer men on the forum have managed to get some of the East satellites in the lower 70's East? Is it physically possible to get 76.5E, or is it impossible due to being over the horizon from any UK location?

Rgds

If you look at Dishpointer, you'll find that in the easternmost areas of the UK (e.g. Ramsgate) 76.5E is just above the horizon. Albeit only 0.6 degrees above.

Elevated locations in coastal areas with sea views to South East required then, thx for the reply.

@mikefal can definitely get 75E near Brighton, albeit intermittently. I did ask the 76.5E question before but not sure what came out of it. @aceb, do you remember?

After twiddling about on Dishpointer, it looks like a north/south line through Corby is as far west as to can go. The sat elevation is 0 degrees there..

Funnily enough, I was surprised to find that it was receivable here. 0.7 degrees elevation LOL

What about dish size?
MENA beam (Ku) has one transponder (all encrypted) and should be receivable with 80-90cm dishes?
For C-band 210 cm should be needed...
Can anyone confirm that?

I use this thread even if the name is not really appropriate (renamed by mods , later ?..)
edit: elev: 3.7°
Well, first test on 1.80m, not so bad for a small antenna
KU and C test

Sorry guys meant a 1.5 Dish. Slip of the grey matter. :D

TV Varzish HD (MENA Beam) at 12 db with F15 and 1.5m

Very very low solly, about half a degree on the Kent coast. Absolutely ideal horizons needed for this one!
Like this one at Dungeness.
