800 keeps switching off

I have just bought a clone 800 from that auction site. I am running Nablio blackhole 06 in flash.

After the box has been on for around 20 mins or so it just knocks off, nothing on the display, just the ethernet lights on at the rear.

If I unplug for 5 mins all returns ok.

I suspect I have been sold a dud box!

Nabilosat Black Hole v0.6 includes the second stage #70. It is known that DM800 clones do not support the second stage #70, but second stage #69. You need to flash second stage #69 to your DM with DreamUP and serial cable. This may hopefully give you a working box, however you will not be able to update it with new images because, again, they will have the latest version of the second stage.
Further to this, now even Barry Allen is now checkin your second stage, your MAC address, and flash drivers and make sure they are compatible with the image you are booting from.

You can install Black Hole v07, and overwrite secondstage #69. That will allow you to use this image. However, I doubt you will be able to play this trick much longer. At some stage, with DMM enforcing clone checks, I am afraid you will not be able to upload new images.

As you mentioned in the other thread, do not buy clones, if you like to play with the box and apply the latest updates.
Else, if you just wish to have a cheap box, and are not interested at playing it, I would say it is fine.

I have Nablio blackhole 06 with bootloader 69 working perfectly with a clone. Been on test for days on an encrypted HD channel without a hitch. Haven't come across any of the heating problems that I've heard of.

Why would you want to constantly reflash the image and restore all the settings when it is working well. I believe "if it aint broke don't fix it", its a pain in the arse reflashing.

When I bought it, the seller stated it was genuine in the listing! Which he bought from a well known sat dealer. receipts to prove etc.

I have contacted dream to peruse the problem.

This is not a second stage bootloader issue. If it is a clone with #70 it would not boot at all. You would have a CA error displayed on the front panel. If that were the case you can recover by installing #69 as mentioned above. My hunch would be a hardware problem and I would start by eliminating the power supply.

Incidently I've had an e-mail today from my supplier who said that bootloader #71 (virus free) is about to be released. They are just waiting for the Chinese to return from their new year break which has delayed it a little.

That's not quite true m8, some will boot and have lock ups and just don't operate correctly and others just won't boot.
Plenty of info on other boards about this.
I would be amazed if #71 worked in clones as DMM and some of there guinea pigs are working hard to stop the clones.

i think,since the clone are out in china,that you can buy,for 300€,or much lower,in large quantenties,many sat "dealer"will imports,thausends of clones,in big over sea container,for maybe 150€,to get maximum profit!
my db 500 was also a clone on ebay,the dream 800 i bouht on redcoon online store,i will never buy dreamboxes again on ebay,hope you get your money back...

That's not quite true m8, some will boot and have lock ups and just don't operate correctly and others just won't boot.

Same is true of orginals, we all know they haven't got a great track record so far, £399 now? I take a guarded view about what I read on forums and don't jump to conclusions. I'm not trying to influence people either way its a personal choice. I've an 800 clone working perfectly, same is true of all the clone 500s I've set up. I get the impression the clone 500s give a better picture!

I just feel the clone fight with the new 800 and 8000 will be a lot stronger.

I have no problems with clones but you need to know you are buying one and you can use it accordingly.

I also think the clones may be made better but it's a risk.

If You buy a clone then make sure it is a good and wellknown seller so You have a place to return it to if it turns out to be a Monday clone.

If it is working fine, don´t ever try to upgrade the os. Usually no big deal, some small bugs fixed and if they don´t bother why bother

The 800 I have has come from a well known sat dealer! If I dont get a good

outcome to this, then I will be going to the trading standards after DMM

confirm its a clone or not.(which I know it is)

for a clone even £250 i find it expensive ,i´m starting to love the Kathrein its working brilliantly with Enigma2 ,the updates are coming thick and fast ,the picture quality just fantastic!! has abosolutly nothing to do with the dreamdump

No I bought it on ebay, who the seller had bought it from a well known sat dealer. I have not contacted the dealer as of yet, as Im still waiting to hear from dream.

The under side ventalation grill is the same as the clone 800. I will post some pics up tomorrow.
