Being "nearer to the signal" is totally irrelevant. Once you get outside the main transmission coverage areas strange things start to happen.

In this case our Italian friend is just incredibly lucky to have a lobe of better than expected signal strength lying over him.

Well look at the first post in this thread. You will need at least a 3.7m diameter dish to stand any chance whatsoever - and even then theres no guarantee of favourable reception. Do you have room for a 12 foot diameter dish in the back yard??

Please stop asking the same question over and over again, all the information is in the thread.
The thread was started over 2 years ago, so don't expect an answer from the original poster.
As he states he is using a 3.7M dish, which cost approximately 2,000 Euros then, + shipping, as he bought it from the US:

Have you room for such a dish? Check the attached photographs, in page 1 to see just how big the dish is:

As Analoguesat has pointed out, even if you buy such a dish there is no guarantee of getting a decent reception.

You might not like the answer but thats not going to change the fact that the original poster has been incredibly lucky to be able to pick up the Indian satellites. He is obviously in a favourable location.

Basically to stand any chance whatsoever you will need:

to spend at least Eu 2000 importing a dish of absolute minimum size 3.7m - bigger is better
spend loads more money (Eu100's) getting it set up and correctly aligned
to be living somewhere with good line of sight out to the south east - probably on the side of a hill


and even then theres no guarantee of success.

it´s possible for me to lock (complete) Tata Sky package with only 220cm in Germany. But signal is NOT stable! Signal goes "up and down", because of only 1,6° elevation in my fringe reception area.

Kashmir you dont seem to understand the practicalities of this. What sort of view do you get out towards the south east? If theres any trees, buildings or hills forget it - 83E is about 5 degrees above the horizon in Italy so unless you have perfect line of sight with no obstructions at all you cant get these signals.

So basically unless you live up a hill or next to a lake you have no chance at all.

Theres also no guarantee that if you buy a 3.7m dish that it will work for you. Extreme fringe area reception varies greatly over a few miles. You might well find you need something like a 5m dish or bigger. Even if you have a perfect view out to the south east you need to appreciate you may have to try many dishes of increasing size to see what happens in your particular location. Are you willing to spend many thousands of € in new dishes, lnb's, and multiple installer visits with no guarantee of success at the end of it? If not give up NOW.

Also be aware this is specialised territory and normal installers wont touch something like this

To be honest unless you have an awful lot of money to throw away you need to start thinking of a different option - either a slingbox hosted by someone in India or an IPTV solution
