Opticum are now doing a 10 port diseqc switch ..
10 in 1 out ...
presumably diseqc 1.1 ...
500ma max current load ..
If anything like the 8 port switch ..then this is a must have..
Should have no trouble passing sufficient current to drive a usals motor...fingers crossed.
A whole world of new possibilities opens for me
I hope.

Look at EMP for the switch, and any switch should go after the motor.

Modern switches can be used either after or before an H-H Motor.

There's no reason why a hobbyist or competent Installer should be constrained in how they juxtapose switch and motor subject to ensuring the current passing capability of the switch is sufficient (Which it will be).

Agree with Tivù. If the 'switch should go after the motor' how would you ever be able to switch between motors in a multiple motor setup?

What sort of price will it be going for?

I have a Gecen 10-way. It's OK but I can't cascade with it on ports 9 and 10 for some reason.

I got this switch on Amazon last week for around £16. So far no problems with it.

One thing though, although it has several different modes, by default it is set up for Diseqc 1.1. To switch it to a different mode, you have to use a programmer to do so, unlike some others which can be set with DIP switches.

So how is programming the device achieved ?
Is there a usb port or similar on the switch ?
and what software is used to switch diseqc modes ?

It says in the specification sheet that by default uses Diseqc 1.1 to switch 10 LNBs. To switch to other modes requires a "GD-10P programmer".

There is no USB port on the switch, nothing except F sockets.

If you just want to use it for its 1.1 capabilities, then you're fine.

Thanks for the info Fisty ..
Not so 'new' this then ..
This function was being discussed on our forum back in 2007 it seems ..
As it has on many other forums ..
Seems a 'best kept secret' as so far .. no one on any forum I visited knows where a sutable programmer might be purchased ..
I rather fancy the 10/1 I found is just old tech revamped by a far eastern manufacturer ' cloned if you like' but not really supported ..
Ie ..no programmer sold either..
I daresay Linux based boxes could easily be adapted in firmware to send the neccessay programming codes ..6 mode or 8 mode ..
IF the programming information was in the public domain ..which it isn't..

Like I said ...best kept secret ..
That way more pre-programmed units can be knocked out and sold around £20 a pop..
;)

Well fwiw I cann0t slag this 10-1 switch off enough ..
I guess it's ok if you just want to switch 10 lnbs on one dish using diseqc 1.1 ..but if you want to cascade it you will have issues ..and not just with ports 9 and 10 ..
Simply issueing a diseqc 1.0 command regardless of a 4 port diseqc 1.0 switch being in the system ..shuts down the switch totally ..
Using the F15 ..I selected diseqc 1.1 port 2 which for me accesses the C band lnb ..
Great ..I get a signal ...
Now I select diseqc 1.0 (2) and diseqc 1.1 (2) ...ie cascade mode ..
Signal vanishes ..
Turn off the diseqc 1.0 signal in the menu ...back comes the picture..
This switch is _supposed_ to be set up to respond to Diseqc 1.1 ..but is clearly responding to the diseqc 1.0 signal as well ..
Making it totally useless to me ..and indeed anyone who wants to cascade ...
another lump of junk for my bits box..
Doh!
Will I ever learn ...
Back to the Gecen ..which only has 8 ports but works flawlessly in cascade mode..

Back to planning a cascade system with 2 x 8 port gecens cascaded through 1x 4 port diseqc 1.0 switch ..which _may_ just work ..but suspect the losses might be too great..
Only time will tell...

The fun will soon begin for me VS, four motorised dishes 2 single lnb 1 duo and my 1.8 with 1 ku and 2 C band :-doh

Well fwiw Martin ..stay away from this 10/1 switch it's going to be no use to you ..imo

I have 4 1/10 diseqs from many moons ago. Now only two of them are cascaded after diseq 1/4 protocol 2.0.
Newer had any cascading issues. Trick is- diseqs 1/10 should be programmed in Modus5.

Well ..I'll go to the foot of our stairs ...
The lash up works ...
1x TM branded diseqc 1.0 ....4 port switch cascading through 2 x 8 port 1.1 switches (1x branded Gecen ..and 1x branded Amiko)
and the losses ?
I can't see any .....
switching is as smooth as silk ...
Schematic to follow ...and I now have 16 inputs and ALL fully motor controlled..
NICE !!!!
