My Satellite Setup
Humax HDR1100S Freesat Recorder. Octagon UHD satellite box with Gibertini 1m motorised dish. Triax TD78 for Freesat. Triax TD64 for Freesat to 3 rooms. 2 Panasonic Freeview+ HD recorders.

This morning I had trip to a car boot sale about 5 miles from where I live. On the ground at one stall was a Freesat+ HD Echostar HDR 600RS with HDMI cable, remote and power lead. I picked it up to look at it and he only wanted £2 for it. In fairness, he didn't know if it worked as it was from a house clearance but I see no reason why it should not. That's one for testing out later along with Netgear DGN2000 router I got for £3. Not a bad day bargainwise. :)

Is that the Echostar with an internal HDD or the other? Bargin either way.

Here I am de cluttering and sorting out bits for the charity shop and Fleabay. I like it when people spend money on buying more clutter. I got a Thompson sat box a few years back. £3 if I remember but it looked perfect. Powered up and nothing. Looked inside and the pcb had burn marks. Must admit I am tempted to buy more clutter to have a play with.
 
This one has the internal HDD. I am looking forward to trying this out and it's great to buy more clutter. I have a cupboard full of stuff! Happy days :)

I can confirm it's fully working. All I want to do now is open it up and see if it needs clearing of dust and things like that, just what I would do with a Sky+ box as standard procedure. The HD picture is superb! And the router I bought is also working well, I'm using it right now :)

Great stuff. I never realised people still used routers, think I have a couple in my bits box I will never use again.

That is what virtually everyone now uses at home to share their internet connection across many devices. These days many come with built in modems if you are connecting via ADSL/VDSL.

I remember when ADSL first started in the UK many ISPs used to give you those nasty USB modems so you could only connect one PC. I always thought that was a pointless waste of "fast" 512k internet.
 
That's a modem wireless router. It also has LAN port problems and a look inside confirmed what I had read about it on the net. Bad capacitors! Easy fix! My guess is that is why they wanted rid of it.
 
Looks like that router I got is knackered. Oh well! :)
