That will allow some foreign stuff to bleed through, or maybe the pirates will fill the void.

That'll be the end for its feed on Eutelsat 9°E 12092H then too!

That's a shame, Absolute Radio on AM/MW is my go to station in the car. and I won't be forking out to upgrade to DAB.

I've been listening on the 1197 relay from Fern Barrow, cuts off when you get to Lyndhurst if my memory serves me correctly.

2023 - the year old transmission formats seriously start to be pensioned off.

Numerous MW transmitters are going to be turned off
Radio 4 LW will almost certainly go
BBC SD on satellite starts winding down

any transmited sterion on satellite out from uk >

Absoluitely the last chance to listen to Absolute on 1215 or the aux relays - the mw transmissions are to be axed tomorrow.

A nice bit of fan/anorack service from Absolute/Bauer for the final 10 minutes before the closedown at midnight last night, a short montage of UK users of the frequency over the decades to include the BBC Light Service, BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 3, the Original Virgin 1215 then Absolute Radio, ending with "Absolute Beginners" by David Bowie and a send off from a few of the current station DJs. They didn't have to do this, they could have crashed into the retune message without any fanfare, so fair play to them for doing it.

Had to go. Hope talkbore smooth and R5 leave MW also soon. Brilliant tribute for 1215 khz though

247m 1215Khz reception was always notoriously bad where I live. End of an era though...

Especially as it was only put out on MW - DAB carried on with the normal programming.

Thats a nice ending for 1215. WEll done to the Absolute staff for doing something a bit special.

Checked earlier just a message now that this service has come to an end & to retune to loacal Dab in the UK.

Droitwich 1215khz was turned off completely at 12.15uk time this afternoon. Kudos to the transmitter engineers. :-applause

A couple of the other txers have fallen silent today but there are still a reasonable number on atm.

More of the transmitters have been turned off today but there is still activity on 1215khz & 1197khz hopping around kiwisdrs round the UK

1215kHz from Stockton is still transmitting the retune message. 1170kHz (ex Greatest Hits) has been switched off, a French (? edit - apparently not) language station can now be heard amongst the crackle and clicks.
