My customer recently moved to the UK and I installed a TV aerial. She wants to pay for her television licence using a laptop (a company owned piece of equipment - she is a translator for a government sponsored department, loads of translation and text to speech software in there, etc.)


She has entered detail on the usual site and they reject the detail wth the claim -

I don't want to turn them off as her contract with the company gives use of the laptop on the understanding it is hers without adjustment of the email/software programmes installed.

They might knock on her door at any time to say she has no licence and she is somewhat annoyed that the BBC is claiming high ground and access to a computer for no reason other than to ......access a computer.

Is there a Post Office option these days ?
 
First they should send a letter, addressed to the occupier, with details of how to pay, for a television license, and an option to declare that you don't need one.
I've just done a search, for ways to pay for your television license, and gotten this message, from Firefox:
"The owner of www.tvlicensing.co.uk has configured their web site improperly. To protect your information from being stolen, Firefox has not connected to this web site."

I'm certainly not switching off my browser protection, to access their website.

Money Supermarket has a couple of methods, using the telephone:

If you don’t want to set up a Direct Debit, you may want to consider paying using a TV Licensing Payment Card. You can use this card to spread the cost of your colour TV Licence by making weekly or monthly payments, with weekly payments costing £5.60 per week. You can apply for a payment card by calling 0300 555 0286.

Finally, if you don’t want to set up a payment plan or Direct Debit, you can use either a debit card or credit card to pay for your licence online, or over the phone (call 0300 790 6131) using a debit or credit card, or by debit card only at local PayPoint outlets.
 
Buy a new licence You can buy a TV Licence at any PayPoint. You’ll need to give the retailer your name and address and pay the full fee of £147 by either cash or debit card. They’ll enter your details onto our database and give you a receipt. Your licence will be sent to you by post shortly afterwards.

Client just been to local Paypoint shop and they confirm that only existing addresses can be processed.

Has she tried the telephone number, provided by Money Supermarket?
Just done a search and you have to wait 30 seconds before getting the menu options for number 2, Buy a New License.
