Activating Sky FTA Card for Irish viewing

hi guys

I recently got sky+ in, over here in ireland. however I do miss channel 4 which we're not allowed to get over here thru Sky.
however i took a chance and ordered a Sky FTA card from www.freesatfromsky.com for 20 quid. the problem is I need to activate it before I can use it over here (Dublin, Ireland).

I would really appreciate any suggestions on successfully activating this card...

I do have a friend in the UK with Sky+ plus my GF lives in the UK (which was how I ordered the card as I needed a UK address and phone number)

Put the card in your box & get your girlfriend to phone sky. they will send signals and it will be activated. Just make sure that she knows the details i.e. card number, and whose name it is registered in.

Thanks for the reply, but that brings 3 questions to mind...


1. will that not have a diverse effect on my "official" card?

2. Cant they tell from my box that it has been installed in Ireland?

3. do i not need a Uk phone line connected to my Sky+ box for this to happen?

Hi cerebro,
All that will happen is when you insert your U.k. f.t.v. card you will get a slight delay while the U.K. E.P.G. is being loaded C4 not being on the Irish E.P.G.and the same in reverse when you insert Irish sub. card. I got over this problem by getting a second box. One for Irish the other for U.K. card.

Hi cerebro,
No problems. I bought an active card on E- bay stuck it in the slot and away you go. Re my last post second box a new set of problems would arise with Sky+ i.e. which box to put the rec. facility on u.k. or Irish. I havent got Sky + so you would have to figure it out for yourself.john22
